Driving without a license in BC?

What's the punishment if caught? Googled and couldn't find much..

just wondering for reference.

You should be asking this in the Police Forum

pandalove 03-08-2009 03:15 PM

you will be terminated

DavidNguyen 03-08-2009 03:15 PM

i think its around 500-600 bucks.
a quarter of the price of carrying a gun and getting caught =)

Hondaracer 03-08-2009 03:36 PM

pretty much nothing..

i know multiple people who have gotten caught driving with a suspended license from numerous drinking driving charges, speeding tickets, etc.

all that happens is your car gets towed and if u know the process you'll have the car back within a week

some of these people have gotten caught and towed like 5-10 times after their licenses have been taken away, and only on like the 10th time do they face possible jail time and dont drive on a daily basis then :/

pretty much a joke if u ask me, im sure somone in the police forum would tell you differently, but i know first hand at least 3 people who have done it

not to mention u get caught DUI or w.e 3 times now and u get that stupid fucking thing u have to blow into to keep driving

like what fucking joke it all is

^^ sounds like you know some quality people LOL...
Yeah they are very leniant unfortunately, I still wouldn't suggest it, being as your insurance is voided if you get in an accident, and if you hurt or god forbid killed someone you might as well get on your knees and open wide for a juicy round of cockmeat sandwiches in prison.

Mugen EvOlutioN 03-08-2009 04:26 PM

death penalty

you wouldn't say that if you were the one getting convicted.

my friend got caught for driving without a license, all he had to do was pay a fine of like $180 or something

BabyblooLexus 03-08-2009 05:40 PM

according to the 'fines and penalty points' pamphlet from icbc, under section 24(1) of the motor vehicle act, "No driver's licence/wrong class." has a fine level of $138 with a point level of 3. i think u cant go over like 10 points or somthing or else its suspension of license.

That is what happens.

i didn't have my license on me (lost my wallet) and got ticketed 50 bucks...failure to produce license

InvisibleSoul 03-08-2009 08:32 PM

I think failure to produce license is not the same as having no license...

I would have thought the penalty would be stiffer than $180... I know having no insurance is like $500 fine or something like that...

would you be saying different if the victim of a drunk driver was one close to you ?

hotjoint 03-09-2009 07:21 AM

they'll take your car away but thats it

Berzerker 03-09-2009 07:34 AM

How can they give you points if you don't have a license lol.

Or a speeding ticket ? All that stuff goes against your license so if you don't have one how can they ticket you and hope to recoup the fine?

Berz out.

The diagram is labeled............

In BC you have to be "authorized" AND "qualified" to drive, or you have no insurance. This means you need a valid drivers license.

What is staggering to me is that people are only concerned about the petty slap on the wrist for getting caught. What would be of concern to me is the unforeseeable; having an accident. In that case you could very well be paying, literally, for the rest of your life.
