URGENT!!! computer virus???

Urgent question guys. my dad's computer has windows XP. Apparantly he clicked one of those "you have a virus click to scan your computer" ad.

Once he restart his computer he is stuck on the log on page. When he click his account to log in it will attempt to load his setting than right away log off and back to the log in screen.

I do not know what the virus ad installed... is there anyway to fix it without reformating the whole thing?

HELP PLZ!!!!

Use malwarebytes to check the system.

You may want to start up in safe mode if you are having problem logging in. If you are still having problems, you may need to move and scan the drive on a working system.
