Lot person jobs...

Anyone here work at a dealership/shop as a lot person? You know, basically washing cars, driving out of the shop to be washed/driven out front to customers and so on. If so, what's it like, and how's the pay?

On a side note, anyone know a website where there's a listing for lot person jobs?

I'm around the same age as you, saw from your other post HS kid with an L. I worked at southside nissan and the people that work there are all good people. Friendly, just pay there isn't the best. I worked the summer and still employed there now but I'm off for school. They paid 8.00. Except they aren't you're typical dealership washing 1 by 1 or however, they make you go in and out of the cars on the lot. It's not degrading, but in the summer it's killer. You get super burnt and it's just way to hot to do work. But because of the location, it's in front of a dump and theres tons of seagles, cars need to be washed daily. I'm going to try find a retail job at footlocker or champs, I could use the discount. Then later if I decide I want change and I have my N and know how to drive stick I'm going to apply at autowest infiniti or bmw.

I actually like working outside, but Southside sounds like a somewhat awful gig from those conditions. I've worked at Pan Pacific Nissan in Surrey, and everyone there was pretty cool. Seeing as i'm in Surrey, I check CL a lot, but it's more places in Vancouver that hire on weekends, and I don't think I can get out there easily unless the dealership is stupid close to transit.

I thought you were in Vancouver so thats why I told you about southside, but nvm. Yeah it's not worth it to try find a close to min. wage job in Vancouver if you're all the way over in surrey. I'm sure if you keep looking there will be an opening. Good luck bud, PM me if you have any other questions

i worked at dueck gm on marine drive and the pay was $10/hr i quit tho. dont ever get a job there if your going to be working weeknights/weekends that what i did. i went through about 6 different weeknight/weekend parters (each one either quit or was fired) before i finally quit because it was bs. the salesman and mangers will abuse power, u do get taken advantage of, and 80% of the salesman and managers there are 2 face backstabbers. they will sell you out just like that if they needed to. i almost got fired twice once because a salesman borrowed managers keys n lost it and pinned it on me and they obviously took his side cuz im just a well LOT BOY, second time was because i forgot to lockup a few cars before end of night, i mean we had 3 floors with over a few hundred cars or so its hard to get every car not to mention someone may unlock one when i jus finished locking. and forgot to mention the amount of time staying past your shift for bs. and it was somewhat degrading at times. for example when some customers buy a new car and get it insured there are new licence plates. well salesmans sumtimes just stand in front of the car holding them out with a screwdriver and they will call you on a walky talkie, make you walk from whereever you are which may be the bottom floor so its quite a long walk, and for you to find out that they want you to screw them on when they were right there but they cant do it and you have to cuz ur a lot boy. so in conclusion fuck dueckgm on marine. this doesnt go for all dealerships tho just my impression of one after working there for 6 months couldnt deal with that anymore

The dealership websites themselves. You gotta do some work if you want the job

You can check the openroad websites for job postings. They update quite frequently.

I've looked at the Openroad website a few times now. Apparently there's "No jobs available".
