Tips on Trading In for different brand! ie. trading a BMW for a Benz

Hi, I'm interested in trading in my car but I always worry that I'll get a bad trade in value if I switch brand. Also, how about buying car of a different brand in a dealership, like getting a Benz in a Honda dealership? Will I get crappy services & finance rates? How about extended warranties?

Thanks, I'm a noobie in buying cars.

A few things,

1, clean your car good
2, finish the price talk, BEFORE letting them know you are trading in a car
3, dont focus on the trade in value, focus on the difference you need to make up for.

It may be hard to finish the price talk first without lying to them. Because they will ask you straight up if you have a trade in, and if you say no, they'd be pissed to find out that you do afterwards and lowball your trade in.
