Funny thing is, I went to the Metrotown Mantique just to see if this would happen and I had two girls asking me all sorts of personal questions. I played along and bought a shirt and then returned it the next day just to see what would happen. Oh how entertaining. |
^ Explain! |
he told me he had a $1000 hoodie :D |

I went to one of the Mantique Outlets a while back in Kerrisdale looking for some Plain Jane t-shirts and zip-ups. They didn't have what I was looking for so the girl offered to show me FCUK and went on about how it was very high end? I rolled my eyes and got out of the store as fast as I could. |
i used to work at mantique. they're only flirting with you because its their job... their sales procedure insists on asking the customers with personal questions in order to start a conversation ( they believe having good relations with the customers will net them future profits even if they dont get a sale on the spot ) and plus, the managers strictly reinforce the sales ppl to stick to that procedure .... not that i followed any of it even now when i walk into mantique im always afraid of the sales pestering you... one of my friends even got tricked by one of the female sales and asked for her number after he bought something bwahaha |
hahaha i think in HK its even worse...from the moment you step into the store..they greet you..then they follow you around like a ghost...always 2 metres behind you..and every item you pick up to even take a look at they comment on it and ask if you want to try it on.. doesnt matter if u say ur just browsing...they still follow you around..makes shopping so uncomfortable that i end up not buying anything and just leave |
The funniest is when some idiot working at a store compliments you on your $5 track pants, like how more obvious do you have to make it that you desperately need a sale. |

I use to work for mantique too in our training, one of the requirements was to ask a personal question about the customer whether it be related to their shopping needs or not. I worked at the granville and robson one so it was easy to talk to random customers because most of them were tourists... I wasn't very good at that because as a costumer I didnt like to be disturbed when i was shopping. I'd always get shit for not asking customers about their personal questions. After you try on something, they keep talking to you and enforcing other clothes that may be related to what you're trying on I ended up quitting for that hell hole haha :) |
