Chinese Visa Questions

I'm apply for a Chinese visa shortly and have a few questions:

1) How much do they care about the "possible itinerary" part of the Visa application. Can I basically just put anything down?

2) I've heard in the past they want the name of a hotel et al. you're staying at. Do they still want this?

3) The visa application form from the Vancouver consulate seems to only have the option for 90 day visas. This is great, but from what I've read, everywhere else the norm seems to be 30 days. Is it fair to assume if I apply for a 90 day visa I'll get it?

Thanks
Dave

1) Yes.
2) Yes, just make up a hotel. No one will check.
3) You get whatever they give you.

Tip: If you are going to Hong Kong first, get your visa done there. It is cheaper and quicker.
