Koreans hate ichiro so much that they would never intentionally walk him

beijing olympic medals is not as meaningful in the baseball world. thats because the olympics happen in the middle of baseball season and a lot of the MLB team owners/managers didn't let the players go to china to play.

so a lot of the players that play in the MLB for japan and USA don't come out to the olympic, so the talent level is not there.

They did, rookie catcher got his signals mixed up

I don't follow baseball... so I'm not sure I know what you guys are talking about. But I caught the very beginning of a Japan vs Korea baseball game on TV yesterday around 7pm, but I had to leave to go pick up my gf. But if this was a good baseball game, my loss then...

T_T

Awesome jersey to get haha

No way man, Jung-Keun Bong. THAT would be sweet on a jersey.

Another reason for Asian players not coming over to NA is because som don't wanna leave the country for the sake of the future of the sport there.

and WBC is?
only name I recognize from US line is jeter and chipper
I wont call any country, champion of baseball unless they beat USA all star line up

I watched as many games as I could. Most of the games were really good, it's very nice to watch this because there are so many good players for each team and alot from the Major Leagues on most teams. For guys that didn't recognize many names on the U.S. team, you just don't watch baseball during the regular season, simple as that. The U.S. had a really strong team. This is also a great way for those players that are guarenteed spots on thier Professional clubs to get some action before the regular season starts.

Teams I think will be contenders every tournament are:

Dominican Republic
Japan
United States
Korea
Puerto Rico

Hopefully someday Canada!

I would rank the Venezuelan team on par with Puerto Rico. Also, Cuba will always be a contender, they have unbelievable ballplayers. You just never see them because none of them can leave Cuba legally. Cuban guys in the Majors like Yuniesky Betancourt fled Cuba on rafts.

Not an all star lineup? You forgot...

Roy Oswalt- Ace for Astros
Johnathan Broxton- Closer for LA dodgers
Ted Lilly- Ace for Chicago Cubs
Jeremy Guthrie- Ace for Baltimore
Jake Peavy-Ace for San Diego Padres
J.J. Putz- Closer for NY Mets
Scot Shields- Ace for LA Angels
Brad Ziegler- Closer for Oakland A's
Brian McCann-ALL STAR Catcher for Atlanta
Mark DeRosa- 3rd Baseman STARTER for Cleveland Indians
Derek Jeter-You know him
Chipper Jones- you know him too
Evan Longoria-3rd Baseman for Tampa Bay Rays-ALL STAR/ROOKIE OF YEAR
Brian Roberts- Starting infielder for Baltimore Orioles-2X ALL STAR
Jimmy Rollins-STARTING infielder for Philadelphia Phillies-WORLD SERIES WINNER/MVP
David Wright-STARTING infielder for Ny Mets-GOLD GLOVE/ALL STAR
Kevin Youkilis-STARTING infielder for Boston Red Sox-ALL STAR/GOLD GLOVE
Ryan Braun-STARTING outfielder for Milwaukee Brewers-ALL STAR
Adam Dunn-ALL STAR/HOME RUN HITTER-40 last season
Curtis Granderson-STARTING Center fielder for Detroit Tigers
Shane Victorino-STARTING outfielder for Philly-GOLD GLOVE/WORLD SERIES WINNER

You CANNOT say this IS NOT an All-Star lineup. They are all USA, all american and ALL well established in the MLB. They got outplayed, and were beaten. Japan IS the champion of baseball right now, winning the WBC 2 times in a row, and Korea won the Olympic medal...so Is there enough proof that the US WBC line up ISNT ALL STAR?

not that im saying the US sucks...but your idea of THAT not being a line up of US all stars? PLEASE. The US wanted it just as bad as everyone else, they were just out played. Japan really deserved the WBC crown, they played well.

LOL.. nice breakdown.
Thats awesome..
Your list is loud and clear.

On a side note...
I could care less if the USA didnt bring out better players for the Gold Medal game in Beijing... Its their choice on how they represent their country.

Tim Budong 03-25-2009 03:56 PM

the thing is..
the americans outhit alot of the teams and hit ALOT of homeruns, but they lacked that technically sound team effort on defense! The americans are almost there, but you know, an ALL STAR TEAM doesnt always bring all star results. tho the Japanese/Korean ball clubs are also mostly ALL STARS comprised of their own countries top talent, they also were much more prepared and was all on the same page
