HELP~! Where is my primary cable wire for TV?

I bought a ZV Box from this company. Essentially what this box does is allow me to stream my own HDTV channel from my computer so I can watch and control everything on my computer from my TV. The problem I am having is that I have to put a the 'channel filter' at the beginning of the cable before all the splitters etc.

I don't know where the primary cable comes into my house, I think it might be in the walls (i don't want to start opening walls) and the grey box is outside my house is locked.

Q: Am I not looking hard enough for the primary cable to come in and find out where the splitter is? Or Is the box outside my house the main cable wire and that gets splitted into other cables that go to outlets throughout my house?

Do I have to get shaw to come and open it up or can anyone with a key let me borrow it so I can open it up to put my channel filter there. I'm not trying to steal cable, I just want to get this thing working so I can stream my own HD channel for all the TV's in my house.

you only have a splitter if you own a splitter
if you don't have one, you can buy one at like radio shack or circuit city or whatever
it should be inside the house

the main cable goes into the box which is where the main spliter is. from there will go to each TV.

Shaw isn't going to show up and let you put crap in their box... and if they saw that filter outside the box they'd probably cut it off.

my guess is that streaming internet video, overlayed ontop of an RG59 cable that is already carrying TV signals, going backwards through spliters, into a TV, is going to look like crap.

just run a VGA cable to the TV...

^ err what? no, HD can be transmitted via an analog connection just fine, please be quiet.

look in your basement, storage rooms, etc for cable splitters. there should be one main line coming into your house and going to a splitter or several splitters. it shouldn't be hidden in a wall as it has to be accessible to add new lines, replace broken ones etc. you can check if all the TV's are getting their signal through this splitter by turning on all your TV's and then unplugging the cable connected to the input side of that splitter. once you find the one that makes all the channels lose signal, plug in a new splitter where you've got it curled on the pic and continue.
