Rule No. 1: Never give the passport office lip

Civil servant rejects Second World War veteran's passport application because his 'lower lip was not firmly closed' in the photo
Pete McMartin, Vancouver Sun
Published: Thursday, March 26, 2009

Bruce Stirling is 91. He is a veteran of the Second World War, a retired major of the Royal Canadian Air Force and one of Canada's "atomic veterans."

In 1957, he was given the honour of sitting in a trench in the Nevada desert while a 17-kiloton atomic bomb was detonated three miles away. That is to say, our armed forces used him as a human guinea pig. In the ledger where they measure the debt one has paid to one's country, it would show the country owes a much greater debt to Stirling.

1 = mouth open = violation of the biometric requirement of all digital passports = shut your mouth or provide a doctors note explaining why you are physically unable to shut your mouth

2 = as per article : "Completely frustrated, I sent everything to your office ( prime minister) [including his expired passport], with a covering letter. Another mistake. Everything vanished into the void.

Don't get me wrong, you deserve respect for all you went thru, but mailing unsolicited mail to the prime minister's office simply wasted $0.53 and probably ended up in the shred it bin.

So Stirling went and got another passport photo taken of himself. It cost him $40.
Wow, he got ripped off.

Eventually, Stirling had to cancel his trip. "Thank gawd I got my money back," he said.
Now why the hell would the newspaper write "gawd" instead of "God" when it was from a spoken quote?

wtf, I read the article and I feel like going to the Richmond passport office w/ the old guy to help him out personally. any more trouble/rejection, and I'll be there to help him to rip into the damn clerks. I swear, sometimes these unionized workers have it too easy and can get away with murder.
