It's why the Corolla sells so well. In the long run $$ talks and fruit walks. |
i play video games. the end. |
Is it true that basically Science = PC, Arts = Mac? That's what I noticed during undergrad. NOBODY in Engineering used Macs, but everyone in Psych and PoliSci did. It's almost like people buy PCs for function, and people buy Macs for "feel" and/or looks? Never owned an Apple product in my life. Had to use a Mac once (to copy something off an SD card) and never felt so computer-illiterate in my life. Now I can imagine how my mother feels around computers. |

I'm not sure if you've got the other "Dell" problems worked out but I managed to get the ethernet port working and both cores are activated. I'm assuming you already ditched the Intel wireless card for the TrueMobile? The only thing that's bugging me is I can't get it to stay asleep. I've tried every kernel, every kext file, etc... it'll sleep and wake up after a second or two... http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ind...howtopic=45994 Edit: I built my Hackintosh because I have a few too many laptops. I barely ever use the thing at all |
wow how many times can microsoft just react to apple's brillant marketing campaigns and flop every god damn time? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oGFogwcx-E lol end thread. |

I'm definately PC all the way. But still, I found that commercial not witty like the Mac ads. It just makes a simple direct message though. It's funny how we can tell they went to Best Buy. |

I think I would share my experience with Mac. I had my macbook white 2.16GHz for 1.5 years. First, the keyboard was acting weird like cannot type certain keys and after updating the firmware it runs normal again. A couple months after firmware update, my mac died and never boot anymore. The logic board is dead and I have to buy another laptop now. With PC, most problem would be software which you can reformat, or even hardware, easy and cheaper to replace. PC considerably slower than Mac (depending on the system) but I find more comfortable with PC. So I'm going back to PC and never buy macbook anymore. If you think that I'm just bashing mac, try to google "dead macbook" and you will see how poor the parts are. Most of the logic board died after 1 years and it costs you another macbook to replace the logic board. |
You're not alone. My first white MacBook had the warping/melting plastics issue that affected almost every MacBook in its first 3-6 months of release. Luckily I was able to get rid of it for a good price. My second MacBook was one of the new aluminum ones and I went through THREE of them before I finally decided to return it. My first one had a loose battery cover that couldn't close properly, my 2nd one had the shitty LG screen that flickered like crazy at low brightness, my 3rd one had the good AU screen but almost half the keyboard had the slanted key problem (youtube it or read macrumors forum) and the battery door was loose again. I had like 5 receipts stapled together by now and I thought it was time to return it. |

i have always been a PC guy and hated apples for no reasons, and just decided to switch to mac one day with this macbook pro.. i still run dual boot just for one program that doesnt run on mac, and everytime i use XP now i just get pissed off. Nothing works as well as the OSX does.. nothing at all... |
It's a great time to advertise the lower pricetag on PCs |

the only reason ppl in engineering or sciences really stuck to PC's was due to a few programs that would only run on PC's.. but now with most of the main programs able to run on any operating system, seems like a lot of ppl are either running linux or osx. atleast that what i find. |

macs are gay as fuck |
I absolutely hate the Mac OS, but I do like the form factor of the Macbook Pro. The lack of a numeric keypad is a deal breaker though. At work I can get Apple products at cost, but I am a staunch PC user. LONG LIVE MICROSOFT!!! |

I think it's funny that Mac's are touted as multimedia computers. In the week I had mine: 1. They don't play compressed video formats very well (i.e. avi) 2. Apple specifically advertises their laptops with external monitors (think desktop replacement) but they won't default to that monitor. 3. The first DVD I tried to watch froze the system (this is probably atypical) |

I love how when a Mac dies at our work, our IT has to have it shipped out to get it fixed. But when a PC dies at work, they just troubleshoot it on the spot and have it working again in no time. |
i hate the 'mac doesnt crash' argument. throughout all the years in highschool using macs, they crashed every 5 mins. also, why should they crash at all? its proprietary hardware using proprietary software. one vendor supplies all. whereas on a pc, its 6 or 7 vendors making compatible hardware for another vendors software. xp has yet to crash on me in the last year on my computer, and its on 24/7 i only reboot when software installations force me to. that said, i dont mind using macs for really simple tasks. i like the interface of OSX, and the form factor of macbooks. if i had to choose just one, i couldnt bring myself to using a mac for all my tasks. this is the same reason why the majority of macbook owners dual boot.... OSX just cant do it all. macbooks may be better spec'd than most PCs, and thats why they are faster for certain apps. then again, you are paying 2-3 times as much, i'd expect it to be a lot faster. |
Macs are way better than pcs....... |
