friends car got stolen, and recovered, but......

Hey Police Mods,

My friends car got stolen from my home last week, 1990 Eagle Talon, reported it same morning we foundout, did the police report thing, and contacted ICBC... then we waited... 4 days later the car was found, involved in a chase, car was crashed and rear end damage was done.

police caught 1 of the 2 people involved, and "know" the other person responsible. still didnt get verification if they got him/her or not but thats not my question yet..

there were personal belongings in the car, New shoes, jacket, pillow, plus her boyfriends Employment insurance documents and other banking, pay stubs etc..

when the car was recovered everything was missing from the car, but they found candy bar wrappers, bottles of cokacola, and a SHOVEL??? WTF? Why a shovel?

As you probably assumed, the car was recovered in Surrey...

Here is the question:

Since the police busted who stole the car, they are Obviously know what happened or what they did with the personal belongings and Documents. How does she get them back, or SUE for replacement value, or get compensated here. plus the risk of Fraud or Identity theft on her Boyfriend... we all know they did something with the documents... What can we do?????????

She is the victim here. please help......

If there was theft coverage that will take care of that...as far as persponation goes, she sould let the Police know that and then take steps to contact whatever banks, credit cards etc to cancel and do whatever they say. There might be ways to try to replace whatever else thru small claims court but don't hold your breath.
