How to get no data plan?

I wanted to HUP to the iphone without getting the data plan. I tried calling rogers but they said i have to get it BUT some stores offer the phone without the data plan as long as i sign a wavier of some sort.
Anyone know which store does this, or what i can say to CSR to make him send me iphone without getting a Data plan??

I know some people have iphone without data plan and they are first owners.

RIght now im almost reaching 2 year mark on a 3 year term and i can upgrade to 16gb for 299. I have a 30$ voice plan with like 25$ in features added.

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

do you wanna buy the iphone itself or with a contract just without the data plan?

I called retentions today with 6 months left in a 3 year contract. I was able to get a better retention plan than what I had before plus a 8GB iPhone for $199 with no data package.

Go to the Rogers at metrotown, the one located next to the dollar giant, by the bus loop entrance. Go talk to a white guy named gabriel. I talked to him and was able to get the iphone without a data plan.

@Jsales: im trying to HUP to iphone w/o dataplan. (so its restarts my 3 year contract)

@Pornoman: i have about 1 year and a month left in my contract. CSR wouldnt let me get phone without data plan. I said that other people have told me they were able to but he still said sorry but he mentioned if i go to stores, they might be able to .

@Sharky: i will go to metrotown and look for him.

You're talking to the wrong people when you call. This is the number for retentions: 1-888-936-7283; threaten (in a polite way) to cancel your contract and see what they offer to make you reconsider. Tell them how your current phone is messed up and how you've been eying the iPhone-- and when they start talking about data plans, tell them how you have no need for it at the moment but if you change your mind, you'll call them. This is exactly what I did last week. I had 6 months left on my current 3 yr plan. Not only did I get an iPhone without a data plan for a fairly good price, I was also able to get a better plan than I had before (ie: free unlimited incoming minutes, and bonus daytime minutes).

Before I spoke to Retentions, I spoke to a CSR at customer care and they were totally clueless. I was told that I couldn't re-negotiate my current contract until it expired and that I couldn't get an iPhone without a data plan.

When you talk about going to metrotown, you kind of lose me. The only way you can get an iPhone for 200-300$ is only if you sign a new 3 year term... meaning now you'll have 2 contracts to deal with. No one in the mall will sell you an iPhone for $250 outright without a commitment.

It might be worth your time to read this thread:

I am HUP-ing. rogers lets you upgrade your phone once a year but it would restart the 3 year time again.
so right now i have 1year left on my contract but if i HUP(hardware upgrade) to iphone, i get the iphone at discounted price 200-300 but my contract is back to 3 years again. at least this is how i have come to understood it.

my mom is the account holder and i think only the account holder can "threaten" to cancel.... not sure how i can do it. i am not good at being "aggressive"

That is correct.

What I meant was that I was HUP-ing after 1 year cause I really wanted the iPhone. So I was able to get the iPhone at the store I mentioned at metrotown, speaking to the guy I mentioned and got the phone without having to get a data plan. I'm just telling you what happened on my behalf.

Also when the retail people at Rogers tell you that you need a data plan with your phone, you don't. (Before I went to the store I mentioned (downstairs one) I went to the one upstairs by silvercity and spoke to this asian girl. She tried so hard to push the data plan on me giving me all these excuses to get it, when I clearly didn't want it. I just walked out).

Later after getting the iPhone (from downstairs) I walked back up to the upstairs store. Clearly showing the asian girl I just got the phone and blocked her off from selling the iphone to two other customers by telling them what happened. Yes I seem like a total jerk, but seriously FUCK those people that lie to you just so they can get a little commission.

anyways back on topic.

@pornoman: my previous contract time was from 2008-2011 before I got the iPhone. I got the iPhone now, but my time doesn't extend. Its now only from 2009-2012. (By the way I got the iPhone for 349.00.)

I'm not clear on what you mean by having to deal with 2 contracts.

rogers rep here...you never have to add a data plan for the iphone. those that tell u otherwise are lying. i suggest u add data if u think ur gonna be using it abit but if not then make sure u block it right away through customer service. only blackberrys and other smartphones need to add data inorder to get the subsidized price which means u can still get the bb and other smartphones without data.
