it's a simple question, do you or do you not have a point to make? I fail to see WHY there was a need for a remark such as that which has absolutely no bearing on the original subject of the thread. Why the heck do people answer a question with another question?

out of the blue you make a remark about forum being owned and operated by a chinese guy. That remark can be construed in a few ways. Which way do you intend it to be, that is my question. If you don't want people to misunderstand be crystal clear on what you are trying to say.

A) make your point or
B) keep useless banter out of thread
C) there are times for remarks like this,even jokingly, but not in this thread.

because you phrased your question in such a rhetorical way that it implies that I was trying to make a negative statement, when in fact I wasn't. you might have noticed by my post count that I probably don't know what's going on behind the scenes. it was an expression of genuine surprise and the comment was not meant to be racist, which would be rather illogical given my own chinese background.

yes, I suppose my point could have been better illustrated had I included a smilie face with it, but your confrontational tone is evidence of an underlying lack of faith and a tendency to assume the worst. the very fact that such a little comment would generate this questioning of motives and require me to defend my position is discouraging and detrimental to the friendly atmosphere that !SG is trying to cultivate.

i do agree with the sentiment that RS is turning from a place to relax and talk freely to one where the posting discipline is rooted in political correctness; where members and moderators alike will jump at you for any tiny mistake or perceived slight.

but really, my question wasn't rhetorical when directed at what you wrote *out of the blue*.

it was a simple question to determine intent because I don't know you personally, and given the track record and membership quality of RS these days, as a moderating member it is an ever-growing task to properly screen or even acknowledge who is a worthwhile, progressive member. When RS was smaller it was easier to manage and moderate, but when things got bigger and busier it's natural for more rules and policies to be in place to help manage the growth.

Gotta see it from this point of view as well, I don't speak for the entire moderating team of course. These are my views only.
