But seriously. Can you imagine how strong of a deterrent it'd be if those Bacon brothers were tied to a pole in Robson Square, and ALL british columbians were allowed to publicly stone them to death? That'd be fucking awesome. I'm sure even grandpas would love crushing in a gangster's skull with a boulder.

Still weak. The best reinforcement I've seen was in the Moscow subway system. The angry looking transit cops there had massive riot batons, and it looked like they were just WAITING for a reason to beat the fuck out of someone.

I agree, this would be a good way to avoid fare evasion, however then you'll get everyone complaining about congestion, so then if the congestion issue is addressed and the turn-stalls are removed, then you'll have people once again complaining about fare evasion

I can see where that might be a problem on an underground system. However most stations are above ground and they could easily make all 3 sides of the station into turnstyles with the 4th left for stairs.

The skytrain coming to Richmond was the worst possible thing that could have happened to Richmond. Crime will double here as soon as that thing opens.

Mr. Chiam,

Why must you continually use Singapore as a point of Comparison? Singapore's draconian laws are enabled almost entirely by virtue of the fact that they are a tiny island nation with almost complete control of what comes in and out of their nation's ports (air and sea).

Neither Vancouver nor Canada are comparable in this way, so why would you continue to do that?
