repo.com

is is safe to buy from this website? looking in the market for a 2nd car now, mostly a decent g35 coupe under 30g's, saw a few of 05 06 around the market and buysell.com around that range, i've also heard that vib motors to stay away from..is that true? should i still with buysell.com/shopping around at dealerships or is repo.com a good source as well?

cdizzle_996 04-06-2009 06:15 PM

I have 4 family members that have bought cars/trucks from there. Never had a problem. There warrenty is really good as well.

Yura 04-06-2009 07:21 PM

I got my car from them.Had no problem

STi 04-06-2009 08:10 PM

thanks for the input, just gonna shop around more

just a few quick other quetsions

for ex, buying from repo, do i still need to get it inspected? if so, do i ususally bring the used car to a garage or someone to get it checked or is it already checked or do i have to bring my tech to the place?

also for purchasing from dealerships, do they already inspect the car being taking it or the same rules apply?

also for purchasing on like buysell.com or like private buyers, how does the usual practice is for checking the car..like bring it to a shop we know or just a bcaa site?

and where does repo get their cars from? just private sellers?

fliptuner 04-06-2009 10:23 PM

REPO = reposessed ... for the most part at least. i'm sure some of them are leased/fleet cars.

As for the inspections just call BCAA and they'll send someone out to do it on site. Convenient/competant service. I would suggest anyone who's not familiar with inspecting a used car get an inspection done prior to purchase. And no, I wouldn't necessarily trust a dealer's inspection. BCAA is a 3rd party with no interest in whether the car sells or not.

hk20000 04-06-2009 10:25 PM

but you have to factor in that whatever price they put on the bs, they are going to charge 15% fee on top.

so price + 15% fee + 6% tax is what you pay.

Gh0stRider 04-06-2009 10:27 PM

ya, its safe. been there a few times in the past. they had good deals.

STi 04-07-2009 07:50 AM

for those that did dealt with repo in the past, did u get a tech to check it from bcaa? i checked the site and being a member its 145 to get a 143point check..just wondering if its really necessary if its from repo or should i just pay the 145 anyways when buying any used from from anywhere just for a peace of mind?

Leopold Stotch 04-07-2009 09:49 AM

i met a guy who bought a 05 ML500 for 16grand.

there's a 02 S430 for 17 grand.

repo.com is amazing

i always do a pre-purchase inspection especially if it's used and I don't know the seller.

whats $145 to a $15000 purchase? it's only a small investment.

Dentz 04-07-2009 11:46 AM

Jesus, huge diesel truck for 10-15,000. This is where I'll be looking when I'm in the market.

hk20000 04-07-2009 12:19 PM

Well if you have a lot of free time u can buy without inspection because it comes with warranty anyway.

so you are worried about down time more than money if you don't inspect.

fliptuner 04-07-2009 02:06 PM

If it were a $2000 car I might weigh out the cost of the inspection. But if you don't know what to look for and dropping over $10K, what's $150 on piece of mind? That's only a fraction of what you're saving.

The blue 2002 M5 looks nice! 28k though?

+1

I've been there before and test drove a few vehicles, kind of a dumpy place but I feel more confident buying from there than most of the shadier dealerships. Deals have always been pretty good there so I'd check it out whenever a good find comes up.

Synkt 04-07-2009 09:28 PM

Had a coworker buy from them. He was so impressed with the service and honesty of the place that he is looking at buying a truck from them as well.

q0192837465 04-08-2009 12:58 PM

damn, i'll wait for them to have a SLK. Hows trade-in & financing there?

thumper 11-04-2009 09:21 AM

just wanted to bump this thread to see if anyone has anything recent to update with... i'm going with my coworker to look at their inventory later this week to see if there is something she can afford.

shenmecar 11-04-2009 09:32 AM

There's a Honda Accord coupe V6 for $9k. Thats one awesome deal IMO.

thumper 11-04-2009 09:46 AM

my coworker needs a 4dr family car and was thinking about this one right now:

http://burnaby.repo.com/details/36464

she's trying to bump up her $8k budget (limited by bank loan) to see if she can get this.

it's a little dinged but it seems okay... what will it need for service? timing belt/water pump/etc? another $1k on top easy?

Good advice. How can you tell when a dealership is lieing? Just like teenagers, their lips are moving.
