My comp keeps crashing recently...

I dunno why but my comp just constantly started to crash. Especially if i start to load vids up on youtube while i'm surfing the net or seothing.

I've scanned my comp manytimes with RegCure, Malwarebytes, Spybotsearch, and kaspersky.

Any suggestions on what virus scanners/adware scanners i should use?

ps my virus scanner is a lil old....

Check your system temperatures using Speedfan or similar software.

Ok i installed Speed Fan and i have no clue how this thing works.

My temps say the following

TEMP1: 60C
TEMP2: 36C
TEMP3: -1C
HD0: 51 C
HD1: 41C

now temp1 and hd0 have a fire logo beside it. does that mean its too hot?
temp2 and 3 have a DOWN logo
and HD1 have a Check beside it.

thx guys

If Temp1 = your CPU, that's pretty high for idle temps.
Double check what the BIOS says for your CPU temp.

Could be a fan malfunction, or maybe your case is clogged with dust and blocking airflow.

Yeah, what Eclypz said.

Nowadays, motherboards have built in thermal protection where if it detects the temperature reach 70 degrees Celsius, it will automatically power the computer down.

What does the temperature read when you go watch YouTube videos?

Yes, the CPU temperature shutdown is set in the BIOS. You can set a temp where it alarms, and another temp where it shuts down.

As for 60C as CPU temp, it's a bit on the high side, but I don't know if it's necessarily enough for a machine to crash.

Usually the two temps are for system temp (the temp inside the case), and the other being CPU temp (which is measured either on CPU or a sensor right underneath the CPU). The higher is usually the CPU temperature.

Like others have said, I'd probably start first with cracking open the case and blowing all the dust out of there. Go invest in a can of compressed air and blow out as much dust as you can out of your case. Pay special attention to the heatsinks and fans and make sure you get all the dust out of there and see if that lowers your temperatures.

Does the machine crash when you just leave it on and do nothing?

Well, that's weird... unless someone had changed the setting, it shouldn't be under 70 degrees Celsius.

But anyways, if the idle temperature is already 60, then I think it can reach 70 under load.

Over time, the thermal paste between the heatsink and CPU becomes worse at transferring heat as well. Getting rid of the old stuff and putting some new thermal paste on there could further reduce it by another 10-15°C... but 45 is just fine.
