Wanting to paint my steelies

SO,
I just got myself a 2004 em2 after my integra was written off and right now i'm loving this car. I'm currently a student/intern so a little held back on money but I've been thinking of painting my steelies.

My car is a silver coupe and i've been thinking of painting the steelies either gunmetal or dark bronze. I saw one method of painting was putting playing cards between the rubber and lip of the wheel. Anything you guys would recommend? Does anyone have any pictures of what their car looked like afterwards?

mask off the tires is the best way. you only need to mask off the side wall.
use a fine grit sand paper to rough up the metal.
i used dupicolor wheel paint on rims and steelies no chiping yet.
about one can per wheel.
clean
i bet on black

I painted mine on my 92 civic hatch. I just kinda slid newspaper between the rubber and the lip them taped it with masking tape. Took abit of time to mask but they look good now. I painted them with gun metal "wheel paint" from canadian tire. No Chips after about 3 months.

op, depending on how fussy you are about it, i'd recommend what the others have said. sand it down, maybe 1-2 coats of primer and then spray with colour of your choice. masking tape + newspaper is probably the fastest way to cover the tires but you could give that playing card trick a try. let us know how it goes.

btw, flat black with a green lip looks nice
