94 octane Petro

Ok so sense when did pertro canada get rid of their 94 octane gas?
i went lastnight and they got rid of it!!
i asked the clerk lady and they said all perto canadas have gotten rid of 94 and they buy it from Chevron
does that mean that Chevron would be getting rid of 94 octane to?
when did this happen!

Tgo 04-12-2009 01:37 PM

i have not seen 94 in petro canada for few years now, chevron has always been the source of 94 octane.

HollyZ32 04-12-2009 01:39 PM

I go to mission alot
and most of the time petro out here is cheaper then chevron and i used the petro because they had 94
but i went to fill up yesterday
and it was gone

Berzerker 04-12-2009 01:40 PM

No Petro has 94 in select locations for a long time but I too noticed a out of order sign on the 94 pumps now.... I don't care as I only use Chevron gas anyways for 94

Berz out.

Yeah i only use petro if i have to
but if petro buys their 94 from chevron
does that mean that either
A. Chevron is gonna stop having 94 thats why petro stops having it
B. Because petro just didnt sell very well

i mean either way i dont care just as long as i have 94 ha

Raid3n 04-12-2009 01:45 PM

petro might just have stopped carrying it cause not many ppl bought it. most buy it from chevron directly cause they probably don't know petro even has it. i know i was one of those ppl until recently

and i still wouldn't buy it from petro, as they may buy it from chevron, but then they probably add in their own additives. i am a religious user of chevron.

pandalove 04-12-2009 01:47 PM

there always a 94 around my house ...
is 94 even necessary ?
i always fill up 94 in my IS250...
but these a shell very close to my house with V power 91 .. is that enough?

Bender Unit 04-12-2009 01:49 PM

ok so when i first got my 300zx
everyone was like ok ONLY put 94 in your car so i was like blah blah blah ok so i did for like a months and then i got cheap and started putting i think 88 in not beliving anyone about the 94 i did that for about a month and then my car broke down! and cost me 500 bucks to get it fixed
after it broke down i started putting 94 in it again and it has not broken down yet sense (atlest it hasent broken down due to the type of gas i put in it :haha: )

woow lol have u tried 91 tho ?

Berzerker 04-12-2009 02:04 PM

If your turbo and your tuned for 94 its deadly to use anything less. My GF's RSX-S ony see's 92 if you use less it runs like a bag of smashed assholes.

Berz out.

HollyZ32 04-12-2009 02:06 PM

Hahaha no i have not tried 91 im to scared to because i dont want to make another $500 dollar mistake on my car again hahaha
im playin it safe and sticken to my 94

BlackV62K2 04-12-2009 02:13 PM

Just go to Chevron. All the cool kids go there lol.

HollyZ32 04-12-2009 02:17 PM

Haha im like half a cool kid then
because i USED to go to petro if i was almost out of gas and it was the closest ha
so im only half lol
but now i have to go to chevron because ...petro doenst have 94 anymore

Manic! 04-12-2009 02:44 PM

94 is a waste. Petro got rid of it because there is not enough demand for it.

HollyZ32 your car will run fine on 91.

I had a customer once with a harley that was out of gas and was afraid 91 would not work on his bike. I asked his be they ride Harley's in Californina because you can't get 94 anywere.

HollyZ32 04-12-2009 02:50 PM

Yeah i know i could use 91 but its just hard haha but yeah i know i can use 91
but with what happend to me its so hard haha
500 bucks is alot for a stupid mistake hahaha

dkvby 04-12-2009 03:15 PM

the different u paid on 91 and 94 is like less than 2 bucks a tank. i use 94 all the time

+Kardboard+ 04-12-2009 03:16 PM

Filled up at the Victoria and 49th Petro the other night; they still have 94. Not many left though, and it's all about PayPass at Petro bwahahahah

You can fill up your tank with half high octane and the other half low octane. It should be fine as I sometimes used to do that when I had a 300zx. You just can't gun it or your engine will ping, so take it easy on the pedal.

MarkyMark 04-12-2009 04:24 PM

Other than some select cars, isn't using 94 over 92 usually just overkill, meaning more money but no noticable gains? Im talking about engines that require just 87, or even 92.

But if your in a hurry isnt that pretty time consuming ? lol
having to pay for it stop wait pay for it again
that would just be a pain in the ass
and what the fun of owning a 300zx if you cant gun it hahaha
well i mean i dont do it all the time
but sometimes its fun
i love it hahaha

98twofourty 04-12-2009 05:04 PM

Yes, to prevent detonation in high compression and boosted motors.

shenmecar 04-12-2009 06:26 PM

didnt we have a thread about "its okay to put regular in a car that requires premium"?

i think it should be fine unless its a turbocharged car.

HollyZ32 04-12-2009 06:37 PM

Its soooooo not ok haha
like i said my car broke down when i did that haha
