| Any one know if PS2 dualshock controllers work on PS1?
I got a PS1, don't have any other consoles.
But I need a dualshock controller (or maybe the original dual analog made for the PS1). So does anyone know (and have tested) that a PS2 controller will work on the PS1?
I know someone's gonna tell me to just get a PS2, or a PS3, but I'm not really a console gamer. I just brought out my PS1 again for some good old time sake.

^ no, I'm asking is a PS2 controller compatible with a PS1 console.
this isn't a typical backward compatibility issue. I'm asking if it's a forward compatible issue... lol

It does. I don't even have PS1 controllers anymore but I have like 3 ps1 =/
I remember using the ps2 controllers on it like a while ago.

99% sure the PS2 will work on PS1, the PS2 controller was originally released as the PS1 dual shock, it was required for some games such as Ape Escape. The PS2 just made the dual shock a standard feature for all games.

yes it will work cuz i have tried using a dualshock2 on a ps1. the only difference between the duakshock1 and dualshock2 is the pressure sensitive buttons. pressure sensitive only works for ps2 games.
you can use a dualshock1 on a ps2 but wont get the pressure sensitive function.

anyway, thanks for all the responses.
I went to buy a cheap 3rd party controller for $5 and it works...
only problem is that I completely forgot that some PS1 games aren't compatible with analog. So that was a waste... |

I'm not gonna bother buying consoles anymore and haven't since, just because I don't like hosting and having people over at my house, I usually end up playing games by myself whether it's a single or multi-player game, and I don't have a nice TV.
I do have a very nice gaming computer set up conveniently in my room though, and I can't wait until Street Fighter IV comes out for PC. In the meantime... I'll be playing SF Alpha on my PS1... without the dual analog sticks |

So that was a waste... | rewire it! or get those PS2 to USB adapters for like $10, get emulators on your PC and use the controllers with the keys mapped as you wish. GoldenEye 64 was practically meant to be played with a PS2 controller.
