Well, a lot of people have more than one. I have 7. My parents have 2. Even my sister has 3.

Why would a person need more than 1 computer? 1 desktop + 1 laptop is understandable. But 8? Am I missing something?

It's the amount of computers per 100 people, not the total amount of computers in an area. My neighborhood can have 200 computers per 100 people and we'd "beat out" every country.

Freelance animators have plenty for their render farm. The more PCs they have, the faster they can minimize their render times.

I work with lots of people who have still never turned on a computer let alone own one. these are people in there 50's - 60's making $100k-200k. they don't need computers and will probably never have one.
