Bellis Fair parent company filed for bankruptcy

Quote:

The owners of Bellis Fair Mall in Bellingham have filed for bankruptcy protection. The parent company, General Growth Properties, is the second biggest mall operator in the United States with over 200 shopping centres.

The move by the Chicago based company had been widely anticipated since the fall, when the company warned it might have to seek protection if it didn't get lenders to rework debt terms. But don't get ready for any "going out of business" sales anytime soon. It's believed Bellis Fair is one of the most profitable properties and will likely stay open even if it means finding new ownership.

Never been there, but are you kidding? Anything with the word "buffet" scares me.

"All you can eat" however, is a completely different story.

In Vancouver..the word buffet is scary...but I've been to some resturants in Toronto...and they were clean and had very decent food.

So wait...if it's that profitable, why is it going bankrupt? Does profitability not equal better credit terms?

The entire company as a whole is not profitable, at least not enough to cover interest payments as well.

OCB as a buffet is decent, but if you paid regular price and got OCB quality food..... well, you get the point.

cheap person tip for OCB.

get there just before breakfast ends and pay the breakfast rate. Soon they turn over the food to lunch and you can pick from that too lol

lol... GGP, woke up a few days ago to find out my shares dropped 50% and it's been delisted. Oh well, I didn't own that much anyways. It was a penny stock, I don't invest much in those, just something to play with.

No, that's what I edited the title to. You said "bellis fair declares bankruptcy".
