I love taking advantage of their Pricematching to make up for the times they ripped people off. making their employees miserable makes me happy :) |
1. speakers don't produce power. 2 that's not 1000 watts RMS it's probable less than 200 watts rms. |

Besides the rating, it's probably how much the system draws on standby. For many people, their devices use almost as much juice in total on standby than when they're actually watching some movie. I thought I read somewhere that many devices now draw as much as 5W EACH even when "off". They're trying to change the regulations to get it below 1W for the next generation. Like buddy said over there, it's probably 1000W peak, ie for a split second. NO home speaker out there even goes past 300W RMS (most don't even do 100W per speaker), it'd blast out your eardrums long before that point. It's marketing, just like HP ratings. OP, you have way too much free time ;) |

I noticed the energy star logo. but that logo is almost on any product you buy, (my monitor from 1995 had a huge energy star logo when it booted up). I just think it's funny marketing to say "go green with energy star 1000W speaker. It would be much effective to get the message across to say something like: "Go green with the more efficent, energy star certified home theather system at an amazing low price!" RMS power or not, 1000W just doesn't look good to promote sustainability. |
