2.1cm wider than the C6 Corvette and 3.5 narrower than a new Viper
that's at the widest point not including the mirrors.

it's chassis is also stiffer than an M3s ;)

ur hyundai is fat :p

but modding on these thing are endless

Boostaholic 04-19-2009 08:20 PM

shit i didn't know genesis was so big! it makes gtr doesn't look big at all.

BTW, whats wrong with them putting in nissan engine? original motor was mitsubishi anyway.

For fucks sake guys, there's a Nascar V8 stuffed into a Scion, I know technically its a Toyota engine in a 'Toyota' car, yet that's just as bad as not being able to tune an OEM Toyota or Scion engine and having to resort to something else.

they let rhy millen run a nissan engine in a hyundai, but ruled that a skyline using modified laurel suspension parts is illegal....

Not to mention that the Scion has been converted to RWD hahaha

Wow reading that article makes the whole thing seem messed

Not sure if the Solstice is still being used (Rhys' former ride) but I think that basically had a completely custom front suspension.

i hope the hyundai engine can actually hold up..but then again..it all about money....

It's not a show car it's a race car. Either they put in the Nissan engine or not race and lose valuable points. Too me it's not a hard choice.

Pffft! Come on... RS'ers don't DO that...

Timpo 04-20-2009 01:06 PM

ok so...the V6 is still made by Mitsubishi or what?

SpuGen 04-20-2009 03:00 PM

Whats even funnier about FD is that you can't use aero mirrors, but you're allowed to build a RWD Scion with a Nascar engine.

Oh noes, plastic shattering all over the ground!
When bumpers and sideskirts are the no.1 thing to break and shatter all over the place. haha

Not true. The Mitsu 4B11 engine is made under Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance (Chrysler + Hyundai + Mitsubishi) and uses the Hyundai cylinder block with slight modifications made by each manufacturer. So it's more like Mitsubishi using the Hyundai engine. :p

Hyundai hasn't used the Mitsu's V6 engine since it ended the production of 2006 Santa Fe with the Sigma engine so I don't know where you're getting that from. The Genesis Coupe uses the Lambda RS (upgraded 'version of Hyundai's existing Lambda engine from '04).

so the EVO was powered by Hyundai?

project_d 04-20-2009 07:22 PM

In a way...but can't really claim that since the header design, intake port, valve timing, and manifold are all different for the three engines. Plus the Hyundai engine has an open deck block (too much boost = warp the cylinders) unlike the Evo's 4B11T with a semi-closed deck. Maybe that's the reason they used a Nissan engine lol

do you even follow Formula D? there are lots of cars in the Formula D series w/ cross-brand power plants.

in the case of the Autobacs R34, I think the team simply neglected to inform the Formula D inspectors of the slight change. if they listed out the modification on a spec sheet somewhere, they probably would have been passed.

I am not familiar with EVOs, but I thought the EVO 10 engine was evolved version of EVO 9, EVO 8, etc...
