Poll: What would you do if you found a wallet with $50 + IDs?

In light of me having dropped my wallet outside my house while getting out of my car... and having it disappear when I ran back 20 minutes later....

I've become really curious as to what the members of this forum would HONESTLY do if they came across someones wallet.

Update: Wallet was returned by neighbor, gave him 20 bucks for his good deed. :D

If it was 50 id definitely return it

if it was 1000 or something, fuck that its mine.

Prolly call them if I found some sort of number, or name for Facebook, etc. if there wasn't an address in there somewhere.

asian_XL 04-28-2009 12:31 AM

doesn't matter how much money in there. I would never take the risk keeping a lost wallet.

I'd try to return it to the original owner

my family went out for dinner one night, and as we were walking back to the car we found a shitload of cards and 200$ cash. went to the owners house to try and drop it off but she wasn't home. found some cops in a local cafe and we just gave it to them. a day later, the lady called back and said thanks.

InvisibleSoul 04-28-2009 12:35 AM

I will say I would return it all, but hope he gives the $50 to me as a reward. :p

Sounds like a trumped up charge to me though. Don't know whether it would actually hold up in court. I don't know if you're legally obligated to return a wallet you found...

I once drove from PoCo to Chinatown to return a guys wallet and +/- $40. IIRC he dropped it while getting on a bus after work.

i'd keep the cash, only because thats what happened to me. i ended up getting everything back in the mail minus my wallet and cash a month later

by that time i replaced everything already.

Preemo 04-28-2009 01:07 AM

Yeah, definitely return the wallet in its entirety. However, a lot of petty people out there who would take stuff worth a lot less. =(

Nightwalker 04-28-2009 01:56 AM

It's only $50... I'd probably return, all cash included

Peturbo 04-28-2009 02:02 AM

exact same thing happened to me before.
$50 in wallet with my ID's.
Ended up getting a letter in the mail from police telling me to pick up something of my possession about 2-3 days after.
Got my wallet back from the police station by DTES with the cards shuffled around inside and money missing.
Better then losing all my ID and having to replace them all.

Bonka 04-28-2009 02:03 AM

I'd return it all.

Hate to think that honestly is no longer a trait found in a human being even though people today are the cesspool of shit that make up society. There can't possibly be a good reason not to return another person's belongings.

ZhangFei 04-28-2009 02:05 AM

I'd take the money.

Then I would mail the wallet to the address on the ID. Or I would drop it in the person's mailbox

ZhangFei 04-28-2009 02:08 AM

btw why would you give it to the cops?

holy shit...

Jason00S2000 04-28-2009 02:12 AM

Spend it on a half gram and a $10 hooker

m4k4v4li 04-28-2009 02:13 AM

keep the cash & return the wallet

its such a fucking bitch to replace all your cards and get a new wallet ( assuming it was a nice one ) I don't care about the cash

pandalove 04-28-2009 02:15 AM

if its a dude i'd keep the money and then leave it in a restaurant or something
its a pretty chick .. i'd return everything and hope i'd score

skyxx 04-28-2009 02:18 AM

I'd return the wallet to the owner. I don't like to take things that aren't rightfully mine. Plus I feel good. :)

shawn79 04-28-2009 02:26 AM

quickly go to a gas station fill up my bad boy and return the wallet :D

Super Dipper 04-28-2009 02:40 AM

get it back to the owner. karma is a wonderful thing

hung_low 04-28-2009 03:00 AM

just throw the wallet into any mailbox and let the post office take care of it
