| Installing new exhaust...street legal?
If it is within the sound limit, will it be legal? I cant find any of the legislature online. Im considering a magnaflow stainless steel cat-back exhaust.

Don't quote me as I don't know the legislative specifics, but if it's within sound DB limits and it doesn't hang dangerously low, the cops have no reason to pull you over. This isn't california where everything on your car has to be CARB legal. However, with a louder exhaust, it does increase your chances of being pulled over for VI or "routine" checks.

I have looked it up a long time ago, I don't recall the specifics....
I can imagine it would be something like not more than 95DB at a standing distance of 10ft or similar. Prob less than that tho. I ran my car with simple resonator and clean out the back system and have never had a problem from the police (even driving by them), I just don't GET ON IT in busy areas or around police officers.
have a look here http://www.bclaws.ca/Recon/document/...t/96318_00.htm
[edit] now come to think of it I have had an "excessive noise" ticket, but it was for squealing the tires from a stop light as the officer put it.

Technically, anything with a larger-than-stock diameter is illegal. Whether you'll be ticketed for it is up to the officer who has pulled you over. It's usually not a big deal unless your car is uber loud or you've got some other noticeable illegal mods.

I disagree partially with this. The law says "no person shall drive or operate a motor vehicle propelled by an internal combustion engine equipped with a muffler from which a part has been removed any baffle plate or other part"
that means, no modifcation of a premade muffler. I can buy a muffler made without the baffles already.
It also says, "no person shall drive or operate a motor vehicle propelled by an internal combustion engine equipped with a muffler outlet of which the has been opened or widened"
No problem, my muffler was made with a big hole.
Then it says, "no person shall drive or operate a motor vehicle propelled by an internal combustion engine equipped with a muffler or exhaust system to which any device which increases the noise of the expulsion of the gases from the engine or allows a flame to be emitted from the exhaust system"
no problem here either, my exhaust system has a muffler that has not been modified
