Good thing the Canada line is not at ground level

Or this would be your everyday traffic:

Philly74 04-30-2009 07:50 PM

not really... canada line comes at a price way more then ground level

pingu81 04-30-2009 07:57 PM

^ Exactly. Those LRV's (light rail vehicles) are operated by humans. humans = lots of room for error. Canada Line = controlled by computers with several fail-over mechanisms.

BlackV62K2 04-30-2009 09:11 PM

LOL they're mostly from idiots making left turns without shoulder checking.

Culture_Vulture 04-30-2009 09:23 PM

maybe I'm the only one who thinks this..but if you could NOT spot something that big on the road, then you really shouldn't be on the road.

you are so wrong at so many levels. Trains have to be away from cars, we learned that a long time ago.

Think about it. No.3 road, car vs train crash, police cruisers + ambulance + fire trucks

good luck with that. We definitely got the best end of the stick as it is. Either overhead or no trains at all should be on no.3 rd.

BTW most accidents in the video occur where left turns are not allowed in that intersection because of the train track, most of them are caused by blatant traffic violations.

InvisibleSoul 04-30-2009 10:43 PM

I think the main problem is that those people have in their minds that they're driving in the left lane, therefore there should not be anything coming up from behind them on the left... so that's why they're not even shoulder checking.

I mean... think about it... if you're in the left lane and you're turning left, do you actually shoulder check behind you before turning? I don't.

It's probably a good idea to check for pedestrians crossing the street, especially on wider roads where you pull out more

See on the video, most if not all the cars turning left INTO the path of the train are in STRAIGHT through only lanes. You can see the arrow and stuff on the ground before the intersection. Its not the train operators fault.

Spaceship_coupe 05-01-2009 06:34 AM

That appears to be the metro system they have in place in Portland, Oregon.

you 05-01-2009 02:05 PM

u really gotta wonder if those drivers are either blind or deaf..or both

Sure, you check for pedestrians crossing the street, but do you check for things coming from behind you on the left?

I agree! I think 99% people on revscene won't check for things coming from behind on their left as well when they making a left turn.

Pretz 05-01-2009 07:12 PM

its just amazing, you would think with that number of accidents related to this train would make the people be more aware...

danned 05-01-2009 10:32 PM

this just reminded me.. last week my neighbour bought a new benz R350. LOL.. the funny thing was it was bought for the wife who was a C. Lai, and she almost crashed it at her own backyard on the first day of owning it. She didn't know how to get into the reverse gear, and she nearly drove into a electrical wire post in the back alley. I was washing my car at that time.

hk20000 05-01-2009 10:44 PM

Which is why I say, good thing the Canada line is not sharing the road with Richmond drivers....

Harvey Specter 05-01-2009 11:09 PM

They have the same crap in downtown Toronto.

Leopold Stotch 05-01-2009 11:11 PM

all those roads were marked that you can only go straight. so really it's driver error and people trying to cheat the rules of the road

FeistyBearH22a 05-02-2009 12:46 AM

think or the carnage... richmond and a train system like that will not work. LOL.

i was just watching that earlier. its pretty funny even though those are some serious accidents, people probably died or got permanently injured

I think it would work great, it is a sure fire way to get rid of crappy drivers

jlenko 05-03-2009 12:10 PM

People can't drive as it is, with other cars on the road... imagine the carnage of having stuff like trains within smashing distance!!
