Computer won't boot from xp cd

I'm trying to reformat my computer... but the reinstallation CD won't boot. This is a legit copy of windows xp. Yes, I've set the cdrom as the first boot option in the bios. What do I do?
Thanks guys.

Find another bootable CD and try that. Try your XP CD in another computer. That should give you more clues.

how does the cd not boot? where in the process does it stop working?

I just had a similar problem, and after lots of google searching, it was an issue with my mobo and its design.

so i guess lets start with the basics.

System OS?
Mobo?
HDD?
