That SV has godawful gold wheels, which were posted about 10 or so pages or more ago I believe.

Sad to hear.
The G is on my list of replacements for the van now that the kids are older and there's little chance of spilling juice and crackers in the interior. Problem is, I can't justify a vehicle that costs so much and offers little in the way of drivability and comfort. I've been in a G in the past, and was a bit surprised at it's lack of civility. But I thought it was because that specific vehicle had been poorly maintained. Sucks to hear that they're all like that.

I almost put my STi with td06-20g in the ditch yesterday, and it only has half the power that the SV has.

Looks like you're not the only one who lacks restraint.

I actually I like the new GL's and even the new ML looks pretty good. What's your price range? The new RR is really growing me as well.

We had one at work, and it totally reminded me of this in terms of build quality/shape:

I would wait for the next generation X5, judging from BMW's current designs I think it will look sick.

Remember when considering a range rover, LEASE BUT DONT EVER BUY IT. Personally for SUV's I only buy diesel, I never understood why one needs "race-inspired" 550hp turbocharged engines in a 6000lb tank. although I can see the appeal.

I wish tata would import a diesel RR. The navigation interface is pretty primitive compared to BMW/Audi though but thats just cause im a tech geek. But my god the 39 speaker meridian system !

I love the G-wagen. I love everything about it.

Gahhhh perfect Grand National project car. It's such a bad idea but I'm sooo tempted.

I like the new GL, a lot. Not a huge ML fan, as it's so much different than the g-wagen. I think the big draw of the g-wagen is that it's tough, and luxurious. Something that I can haul the hay trailer around our 84 acre farm. Then when I'm done, wash the truck then take the wife to the Opera in style.

Budget is pretty much in the hundred G range for the luxo vehicle option. If I can save $10g, I'm happy. But I'd really like something that will not be problematic in the long run. The G-wagen is really solidly built, which is probably the main reason it's not the most comfortable. The G also has such a strong resale value too.

:lol

I hope Tata keeps their distance from the department that names Jaguars and RR's. I can't live in a world where they market a Jaguar Nano, or the new Range Rover Indica, although if I ever bought an Indica it would have to be purple.

Just because.

I only recently found out that the G-Class is apparently all handbuilt, correct me if I'm wrong. It might only be the AMG models, but I saw it on the Mercedes website a couple years ago.

Everymans 01-28-2013 03:42 PM

Drove by a newer g63 amg last night. girlfriend kept saying she wants it, only car she would ever own, would drive everywhere in it etc. I tried to explain that you could probably get the same affect from a 15 year old one, or a jeep. "I WANT THAT ONE! BUY ME ONE SOMEDAY". How about the basemodel? "ARE YOU DEAF? THAT ONE!"

:okay:

At least that's the one and only car she wants.
.....and not a new Hermes handbag every 2-3 weeks. Think of the long term ROI. :ilied:

I did not know that. It's been hand built since day 1 in Graz, Austria.

From wiki:
Quote:

Construction commenced on a new production facility in Graz, where the new cross-country vehicle would be assembled nearly entirely by hand in 1975
and then
Quote:

A new version was expected for 2007, but the new GL-Class did not replace the G-Wagen, and it will continue to be hand-built in Graz, Austria at an annual production of 4,000 to 6,000 units. In February 2009, Magna Steyr, an operating unit of Magna International, announced that it signed an agreement with Daimler AG to extend the production of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class at Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria until 2015. Besides the production, the further development of the G-Class by Daimler's subsidiary Mercedes-Benz Consult Graz since 1992.
Should I wait until 2016 and see where it's being built?

It's almost like buying a new Call of Duty game...

Quote:

Dude, don't you know? The Magna Steyr G's suck bizzalls, all uncomfortable and shit. The Consult Graz are the ones you want. Because, Mercedes!

Yeah, figured it was handbuilt and needed to be custom ordered probably since on the Mercedes site there isn't even a "build" option lol
