anyone know how to run driver install prior to windows7 install. I need windows7 installer to recognize my raid card.

roastpuff 05-10-2009 12:19 AM

Just installed Windows 7 RC because I rebuilt my desktop and needed a new OS anyways. Way faster! I like!

Windows 7 should scale to the hdd space you have if I recall. I find the RC slower than my previous build 7077

Big.Xero 05-11-2009 10:37 AM

7077 is pretty mint. it does load a lot faster, but i've had some issues with the taskbar being intrusive on VLC fullscreen.

Is it worth switching from vista to Windows 7? I can't get back into vista so i'm wondering if its worth it to just install windows 7. I have everything on different partitions so it shouldn't be a problem to just completely replace Vista. Would I have to reinstall everything again or can I just run the programs from a partition?

its worth getting alright, just back up your files you have in vista onto a CD and your fine. And yes you have to reinstall all your programs

^Alright thanks for the info. Luckily all of my documents and pictures are all on different partitions so I just need to create the DVD. Reinstalling the programs is going to be a toughy haha. Should be worth it in the end hopefully.

On a side note whats this talk about windows 7 being a whole lot expensive?

!MiKrofT 05-19-2009 04:45 PM

Just take note. Win7 is beta software. So some things might not work. With that said its great to try it out.

Hondaracer 05-19-2009 07:28 PM

backing up my laptop to load 7 on

J____ 05-20-2009 12:35 AM

windows 7 is sweet. installed on my old laptop, just didnt have vid or audio drivers =(. even so, its still faster than xp for me.. damn

way2quik 05-20-2009 08:55 AM

Isn't one of the advantages to Win7 is that system drivers are automatically installed compared to XP and Vista?

Hondaracer 05-20-2009 09:15 AM

Anyone have trouble getting their wireless asaptets workng on laptops? I haven't loaded it on but that's a concern

lilaznviper 05-20-2009 03:18 PM

most drivers that are needed will be recongized by windows 7
i inistalled it on my hp laptop and i did not installed any drivers

1exotic 05-20-2009 06:44 PM

Question... so basically this is a trial version? then when the actuall program in stores is released i have to go buy it? Not sure if it's worth installing everything all over again.

6insomnia9 05-20-2009 07:18 PM

Yeah a trial beta version.

asian_XL 05-20-2009 09:13 PM

Dell sucks...win7 can't detect the wifi and lan

Hondaracer 05-21-2009 06:47 AM

With my vaio it detected both before setup was even done :)

Anyways it's pretty cool so far, I was wondering can u download widgets for the desktop from somewhere besides the microsoft site? They don't really have much at all

sonick 05-21-2009 03:10 PM

Run windows update to see if that can find any missing drivers.

Runs awesome on my new Lenovo SL.

Hondaracer 05-21-2009 03:12 PM

damn.. anyone else find windows 7 to download things extremely fast?

i just downloaded the itunes exe file which is 58mb i belive in under 4 seconds

also.. how do you put programs into your task bar or w/e while deleting the main icon on the desktop? when i do this it seems to only be a shortcut to the actual link on the desktop and i'm just hiding them

lilaznviper 05-21-2009 06:37 PM

when u have th program opened right click on the icon and click pin to taskbar or something like that

Hondaracer 05-21-2009 07:00 PM

yea seems to not work though, im just hiding them, pretty much same thing i guess

the windows media player is kinda glitchy but some of the new features are pretty cool, like play a sample of a song when hovering over it

ForbiddenX 05-21-2009 09:38 PM

Just finished installing windows 7. I think this will be my main OS from now on. So far so good although it took me a really long time to install. I don't know if it was the way i burnt it or if its my DVD drive. I'm starting to install everything again.

way2quik 05-21-2009 11:25 PM

Install, whether fresh or upgrade, should be roughly 15-20mins.
I;m trying to install iTunes, but there is no Win7 version for it. Only vista or xp. lol.

Whenever you run into that, just install Vista. Straight up Windows 7 apps are few and far between.

Hondaracer 05-22-2009 09:51 AM

Fuck wish my laptop had a little more ram, I'm under a gig and it still runs fine but really slows when there are big processes going on
