Almost everything that runs in Vista runs in Win7. I'm now running build 7127 and the speed is back with everything :D

Hondaracer 05-22-2009 10:46 PM

7127 = latest windows download + updates?

!MiKrofT 05-24-2009 06:27 PM

Didn't really check on the updates. I tend not to install windows updates anyways. 7127 is not a build that's officially available to the masses. But really the Release candidate can download all the windows updates anyways

asian_XL 05-24-2009 09:11 PM

7127 x86 eng link please

!MiKrofT 05-25-2009 10:01 AM

How do you guys install new builds? Clean install?

Assuming all data is on another partition, do you still have to re-install all your apps, drivers and change all your settings each time you upgrade?

!MiKrofT 05-25-2009 10:16 AM

I always do clean installs and never upgrade. If you upgrade all your installed drivers and apps should remain.

lilaznviper 05-25-2009 11:51 AM

i found that upgrade made my laptop run much slower and the installation takes 3+ hours

win 7 auto detected all my drivers except sound and video.... fuk cant find them manually either... the xp versions dont work

rageguy 05-26-2009 02:02 AM

7127 x86 on a msi wind u100. all drivers came from either the install or windows update. all of my old xp and vista apps work too. much faster than vista, same as xp pro.

asian_XL 05-26-2009 03:37 AM

WTF man, what driver should I use for my x86 dell inspiron 500m?

winxp driver or what?....right now, no display driver, no sound, no lan, no wireless.

ForbiddenX 05-26-2009 07:52 AM

my computer randomly turns off and turns on again. Like all the fans shut off and my power is blinking. It turns on again after. Is this an energy saver feature or is it just messed up? I've also gotten a couple BSODs. I don't know what's causing it cause I can't read that fast. Should I just do a clean install to fix this?

Always try to use vista drivers if at all possible

Did you upgrade your Vista to Win7?
'Cause it's recommended you do a fresh install of Win7 on a separate partition. That way, your current OS does not get wiped out. Unless you plan on buying Windows 7 then forget about your current OS

Anyone tried dual booting it on MBP?

!MiKrofT 05-26-2009 03:53 PM

I Dualboot on Macbook Unibody. Seems to work fine with the drivers from the CD. I did need a trackpad patch though to get 2 finger working.

Vista drivers have 32 bit and 64 bit version. if it doesn't say 64 bit then it's assumed its 32 bit.

Drivers from the MBP CD? or.. sorry im noobs

+ how many GB does it use up after installation?

!MiKrofT 05-27-2009 04:43 PM

Macbook pro cd. You may need to go into the drivers folder on the cd as I don't remember if the autorun worked. Hmm my install took about 15gb. But I believe it varies somewhat depending on size of drive. I've got 80gb allocated to my bootcamp partition.

Armind 05-27-2009 08:42 PM

Tempting.. could you give me step by step on how to do this or is there a website to use as a guide? :D

!MiKrofT 05-27-2009 10:14 PM

Just google installing windows 7 on macbook unibody. Should net you some hits.

feelthesunrise 05-28-2009 08:04 AM

windows 7 looks good and i like the new taskbar. i like the fact that everything works right out of the box, no need for extra drivers.

i'm dual-booting with mac os x 10.5.6 on my pc and lovin' the setup. :D

Eternal_SiR 05-28-2009 08:35 AM

I'M HAPPY WITH WIN7.. EASY AND FAST INSTALL.. UPDATED ALL DRIVERS.. JUST MAKE SURE U HAVE A HARD WIRED INTERNET CONNECTION OR THIGNS WONT' GO SO SMOOTHLY
