sr20det not running right

Hey guys. Looking to get some clear answer i got .I got a stock sr20det with 140km. I recently got a Gretty catback 3" Hks Intake, my Infamous Godspeed top mout t3 set up, also got a front mount kit.

New updates

.. start it up to see how it is for a bit.. not so good.starts great but runs bad... it wont idle and it jumps.. and the engine runs just shakes and cant idle. perfectly.. also smokes black... only thing i havent connect was the brake booster to the intake... since i check the tcp and the maf. it all seems fine but still runs rough. maybe the air circulation, or vacume lines. If you guys have any clues lmk. this thing just stressin me out

Since you said the motor runs rough, is it possible there is an air leak? Since you havn't hooked up the brake booster, did you cover off the hole in the system?

Also, do you know if the motor is running right? Maybe a disconnected 02 sensor?

Who did the motor swap?

i would fix the huge vacuum leak first then check

all vacume is clear and no leaks. o2 is corret. this ant a swap=) oem im thinking its a dead injector or a bad ground... ill give some updates tmr

Sorry, what type of car is this that has a stock SR20DET?
Based on what you say, I would say the car is running really rich so I doubt it is a non-spraying injector.

Maybe a dead plug?

Did you install the wrong plug wires to the disributor?

Can you give us some more info of your setup.

Sorry .. its a 91 silvia (original engine) it has a gretty catback HKS intake. Plenium Intake Front Mount. xs bov , top mount T3 set up from GodSpeed.com. It has stock Maf, ecu ,injecters etc. I never touch the plug. That could be it. im thinking it s a dead injecter. but why would the car be choking? so that brings me back to vacum,. ill take vids tmr and post it up.

new updates. Injecters are good. they all spray. No drips. im thinking its my iavc or valcum.. not sure why itwould be buring black and misfire.
-hooked my boost pressure to my bov vacume- had no place on pipe. also right before i shut her off i hear the waste gate perr?

looks like faulty sensors....ask other SR owners what happens in a few seconds into start up. For Mitsus that's when the intake air control valve starts to move if it's the same idea then it's either not working or it's always instructed to SHUT and cut out the intake.

Also check the plugs see if it's a misfire or just getting the TB shut completely upon causing the stall.

how could you not have a huge vacuum leak when you dont have the vacuum line hooked up to the brake booster

tookout the boost pressure silenoid and it ran better. still bogs but alot less,and doesntrun probaly . injecters all work. took each out at a time and sound like a sti!

Maybe check on Zilvia.net if you haven't already. It is an excellent resource for trouble shooting the SR or any S chassis issue.

Unrelated how much boost will you be running?

yah my threadis acually on there too and they givenno help..i guess im an outcast there. im running 7psi and planning on staying there since i dont have the extras to push it more

You say you don't have a vacuum leak? What tests have you done to check for them?

Black smoke usually means to rich, are you recircualting your bov?

Thanks everyone for the help. It ended up being my manifold gasket. the flang isnt perfectly machined. made myself a thick gasket and solve the problem although it runs a bit rough still but ill check it out. as for the valcuum leak i had my vacuum gauge hook into my intake manifld and it reads normal. Thanks again ill let you know when it runs smooth
