intelligentbatteries.com, I used them all the time... Just call in to see if they have stock...

Apparently they only do mass orders 2 times a year.

Found the link from a post on here as well and I got a power adapter from them few months ago. They shipped pretty quick and the store is local I think. The adapter had pretty short cables though but for a fraction of the price, it does the job so no complaints.

Battery Depot didn't have a store when I wanted to go to them directly and buy a battery. Their response to my email:
Quote:
Thanks for your interest in our products. Currently we do not have any
retail stores. You can go to our pick-up centre Dr. Battery to pay
personally by cash, credit card, master card or debit card. The total price
is purchase price on the website+tax GST,PST+$8 handling fee. Since we are
different company, they need to charge you $8 for handling fee. Please
mention you are a customer of Battdepot.com and provide them our product
part# to the front desk. They accept Credit card/Master card/Debit
card/Cash. The address is:

Dr. Battery
2110-13700 Mayfield Place,
Richomond, BC Canada V6V2E4

For pick up, you need to arrive between 10am to 2pm on Monday; 10am to 2pm,
5:30pm to 6pm from Tuesday to Friday except North American Holidays.
Dr.Battery is closed on the weekends. Please provide us your laptop model,
the original part# , the output current and the output voltage of your
battery/adapter before you come. We would like to make sure that we have
them in stock.
Not a big deal. I went to Dr.Battery and it worked out fine. Paid around $60 for an 8-cell battery back in January.

I can't tell you if there are any problems in general. I can only tell you that I don't have any problems, AFAIK, with my aftermarket battery.

You seem pretty concerned about this. I think you're perfectly justified to buy an OEM battery for the peace of mind. I wouldn't short myself $ if I knew I was going to be a nervous wreck about something.
