any of that SAF crap? will they be canada wide?

+Kardboard+ 05-19-2009 10:05 AM

From the post:

Almost Canada-wide. Fourth quarter, 2009. No idea about SAF.

hk20000 05-19-2009 11:01 AM

Fuck Quebec.

Time for some retention plan action from Telus when this comes out!

hypediss 05-19-2009 11:48 AM

^ ahah true that :) either way if it comes without the saf i'm cautiously sold on this

: )

jackmeister 05-19-2009 05:19 PM

i just had a quick peek on hofo and the dude that posted those pictures up stated they're gonna have some wicked features:

NO SAF and 911 Fees
Walkie Talkie across network
Fast TV Streaming
Unlimited US / Canada SMS
FREE Call Display and Name Display
etc.

However, you can not buy a new unlocked handset and swapping cards without informing the company. Also, no coverage in Quebec.

CT10 05-19-2009 05:26 PM

sucks that you can't easily swap sim cards in and out of phones...that's a deal breaker for me, everything else is pretty awesome

o well i guess i'll stick to my fido retention deal

also read on hofo that the phone is subsidy, and software locked
u can buy an unlock code for $49 after 12 months of service..

however, this just reminded me the 'leaked' rogers 2009 roadmap on hofo which was claimed to be fake
this 'leak' looks exactly the same as that rogers one... so its a little sketchy

wahyinghung 05-19-2009 08:35 PM

Trade off between sweet plans or freedom hmm............

don't know if possible with newer phones, but i've seen the option to change imei (illegal apparently) in flashing software before

willystyle 05-21-2009 06:18 AM

They can allow only registered IMEI numbers to work on their network, hence preventing foreign IMEI's.

cool moe D 05-21-2009 06:32 AM

FYI all phone companies that claim no SAF will actually charge you another fee equal to the SAF but just call it something else (eg. Fido)

Yup, that's pretty easy, but then how are you going to find a legit IMEI to change it to? :p
