Is there an alert(!) on the network icon in the system tray? What type of connection? Have you tried both wireless/wired? Does IE work? Does any internet application work?

From what I understand, web browsing on your PC is not working, but other applications that use the internet do work?

Go to your sister's Windows PC, click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. Type in "ping www.google.ca" and press enter. It should then show you a ping test along with an IP address its pinging. Write down the IP address and type it into the address bar in Firefox and see if it takes you to google. If it doesn't, try going to a Command Prompt and try "ping 123.456.789.123", with that random number being the IP address you wrote down.

If using Firefox with the IP address works, it could mean that the DNS servers are misconfigured on your PC. If it doesn't work, but pinging the IP works, it means there is an issue with your Firefox software. If pinging the IP doesn't work, it means there is some other issue that requires further testing.
