Korean War back on? North Korea said Wednesday it was abandoning the truce that ended the Korean war and warned it could launch a military attack on the South, two days after testing an atomic bomb for the second time. ... It said its military would "no longer be bound" by the 1953 armistice that ended hostilities in the Korean war -- in which the United States fought with the South -- because Washington had drawn its "puppet" Seoul into the PSI. With no binding ceasefire, it said, "the Korean peninsula will go back to a state of war." It also said the North "will not guarantee the legal status" of five South Korean islands near the disputed inter-Korean border in the Yellow Sea, which was the scene of bloody naval clashes in 1999 and 2002. ... Analysts say Kim Jong-Il, 67, is likely carrying out shows of strength to reassert his control in the impoverished state. He reportedly had a stroke in August, which has renewed questions about who might succeed him. ... Meanwhile, South Korean reports said that steam was seen coming from a plant at the North's main nuclear facility at Yongbyon -- a sign it was trying to produce more plutonium." http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp...3gp1PUV6rNu9fA War... war is good for business. War is a great way to power through a recession. |
getting worried about this. i don't follow that region's politics that well but would military action against north korea be prudent now before they start stockpiling nuclear arms? or will every communist regime on this planet come to their defense and then the next thing we'll have is WW3/Armageddon? (sorry watched too much terminator salvation) |
every older person that can relate to the 1900's on this planet has lived through a major war, i don't see why this pattern wouldn't continue. WWI WWII Korea Vietnam that's it right? by major war I mean traditional front line vs front line war, not vs terrorists. and also death rates were in the 100 000+ on both sides. |
Korean War Mk. II. GMS needs to find a new job; I teach mainly korean students right now. Hmm...They'll probably send all their wimmins and childrens here; must change core students. |
The North had the Russians and China backing them in the 50's, they would've lost if it weren't for them. Doubt they will do the same this time around, so why would the North invade again? |
north korea is not invading nobody. the official statement is that they are using it for defence against japan and united states |
oops double negative. HAHAHAHA |
I want to see North Korea delcare war agian, thats like a a sick 90 child going up against Anderson Silva/GSP/Brock Lesner/Fedor all @ once. |

N. Korea is the retarded child in the family that is always trying to seek attention from others. |
attention whore!!! they're so behind on the times, can they spend the money they use on warfare and spend it on technology that will help the people fuck, at least build an arcade with update games and no pac man and galaca |
The Korean war never ended... |
Front Line wars are as outdated as trench warfare. North Korea is just posturing. They have no allies to rely on, sucks to be them. |
someone should just call their bluff and bomb them end of story. |

Can't wait to see what sort of International sanctions will be implemented as a result of NK's stupidity. I highly doubt a war will breakout, but who knows... |
LOL Russia and China backing N. Korea? You've got to be joking. Those countries are playing the diplomacy card, trying not to piss off anyone (their own political hardliners or the free market capitalists). If, for some weird reason, N.Korea decides to rearm and invade, they'll find themselves all alone. The world of today revolves around the dollar sign and corporations and believe it or not, China and Russia have trade relations to maintain with the West. |
ohhh noooes my hyoriii |
If anything China and Russia will wait until all the fighting dies down and pick up the pieces left behind. |

China will backup North Korea in a war not because they're buddies, but because it's in China's best interest to do so. They want to keep the status quo. The last thing they want is for North Korea to collapse, have a flood of refugees and more importantly, the US at their door step, NK is a good buffer for China and that's why they've been propping them up. I'm not saying that they consider North Korea an ally, in fact the people probably most pissed off at Kim Jong Il currently is probably the Chinese. They're more a liability than anything, China's the big guy at the bar and North Korea is China's scrawny mouthy buddy trying to pick fights. Russia could care less, but I have a hard time believing China would do anything that would seriously compromise North Korea, I know they're a part of the blockades but they'll still be secretly shipping aid over. My prediction is that before NK can do anything that would actually start an armed conflict, China would strong-arm them into being obedient like shutting off power, oil, money, etc. |
