Question on 1-8xx numbers.

Does anybody know if 1-8xx numbers (1-800,1-866, and 1-877 to be specific) can be maid outside of North America?

I was under the impression that 1-8xx numbers can be dialed globally free of charge, but my dad told me it can't be dialed in certain parts of Asia.

Anybody know the story behind this?

Thanks in advance,
-Physixx

It depends on how the company that has the number sets it up. Some companies in America won't allow calls from Canada.

Those numbers really only apply to North America. Other places have their own sets of toll free numbers.

+1 to this. I used to work for a phone company and this is absolutely correct.
