Filling at Petro vs Husky?

Last night I noticed Husky prices were about 101 while Petro was 107.
I have a Petro card and been filling up there and only there for the last 4 or 5 years. But I've been wondering, is there a difference? Why's the price difference so much?

If nothing is wrong with Husky, I might as well fill from there. Since Petro stopped giving me the 3.5 cent discount years ago with my Petro card, I see no reason
to really stick with a gas station that charges more...

dark0821 05-30-2009 10:31 AM

well Husky has 10% ethonal in the mix.. so it burns faster? i dunno.. i stick to the chevron infornt of my house.. hahaha... yes i knwo i am lazy LOL..

tgill 05-30-2009 10:40 AM

almost everywhere was 102 last night
the shell at kingsway and gagne was 101.. down the street the esso at kingsway and willingdon was 107

rageguy 05-30-2009 04:57 PM

its interesting to note that at husky, the lowest octane grade gas is 90. at chevron, the lowest octane is 87. husky priced their 90 the same as chevron's 87.

Dan_Guy 05-30-2009 05:08 PM

from what i ve heard husky = fail fuel

SoulCrusher 05-30-2009 06:06 PM

^^what you've heard is correct

03aspec 05-30-2009 06:33 PM

i filled up supreme at $1.20 a liter today, FML. husky, mohawk, tempo and all the other shitty gas stations you can think of buy gas from what ever company they can buy it the cheapest from, esso, chevron etc. and add all their own detergents and stuff. lol. its poop gas.

AzNightmare 05-30-2009 06:37 PM

so the moral of the story is
DON'T FILL AT HUSKY?

03aspec 05-30-2009 06:45 PM

yes! dont fill up at husky

TRD3000GT 05-30-2009 06:51 PM

If this article is telling true information, it's all about how much ethanol the station put into the fuel.

Basically, I would say RUN AWAY!

PiuYi 05-30-2009 06:52 PM

That is wrong. Tempo is part of CO-OP and has there own oil refinery in Saskatchewan. They supply gas to many companies in that region. In B.C. they get there gas from the same place Chevron and Petrocan get theirs from. The only difference between Chevron, Petrocan and Tempo is the additives that they add. I would not hesitate to use Tempo gas In fact our family sold and used Tempo gas in all our cars for 5 years until we signed up with Shell(We are now a Esso).

Husky Energy is one of Canada's largest petroleum companies.

From there website:
Husky owns a portfolio of high-margin production in Western Canada, Eastern Canada and Asia. Production ranges from shorter-term shallow oil and gas production in Eastern Alberta to longer-life, deep oil and gas production in Western Alberta, Northeast British Columbia, Southwest Saskatchewan as well as the East Coast of Canada. Husky also has significant holdings in the Alberta Oil Sands and Southeast Asia.

i find that i get much less millage with gas from husky

SkinnyPupp 05-30-2009 09:03 PM

Sometimes I wonder where people get their "facts" from?

03aspec 05-30-2009 10:26 PM

well i was wrong, but now i know!

kookoobird88 05-30-2009 10:37 PM

ok so why is husky bad?
i did notice that i got like 40-60 more km a tank on chevron, is that becuase of what someone said early that 10% ethonal so it burns faster?

NSX 05-30-2009 10:45 PM

If youre gonna go to husky, go to Superstore haha. Get some shopping money out of it.

Just because you "noticed" something, doesn't mean it was true. In other words, perception is often different from fact.

AzNightmare 05-31-2009 01:07 AM

Well damn, I only got 1/8 tank left, gas isn't getting any cheaper, and I'm sure confused whether to fill at Petro or Husky...

Going to the beach tomorrow, need to fill up tomorrow. :D
Maybe I should test it out and try Husky once... lol
afterall, it's not like I drive a super nicer car or anything.

rageguy 05-31-2009 01:29 AM

so we dont know for certain that husky is bad gas

Mohawk/Husky fuel actually does burn faster because of the ethanol. The ethanol is what allows Mohawk/Husky to sell a higher "base" octane gas at a better price than its competitors, but a direct side effect of running ethanol is that it burns much quicker.

If you guys think E10 gas is bad, try running E85! :lol

There's nothing wrong with Husky/Mohawk gas. As stated, you get less per tank because there's more Ethanol in it... meaning you get a higher octane gas for cheaper. It's up to you to figure out if it's worth the lower fuel mileage for H/M gas, or to pay more for it at another station.

cdizzle_996 05-31-2009 10:41 AM

101 or 107, its a difference of a few bucks? Quit being so god damn cheap.

November 05-31-2009 08:43 PM

It's not about being cheap.

A couple bucks every week adds up to a lot in the long run.
