lurchy brakes

The brakes on my van was replaced roughly two months ago. New pads were installed while the front rotors were machined.

Recently, the van does a lurching motion when I press the brakes.
It does not feel as if the rotors are warped as there is no pulsation in the brake pedal. The entire van does a forward and back lurching motion. As if the brakes are grabbing and and letting go. I dont think the ABS is engaging as this happens when I'm going from 40ish-0 slowly.

My van is a 98 Mercury Villager.

you won't always feel a pulsation/vibration in the brake pedal when the front rotors are warped. the rear drums could be warped too, but it's a bit harder to notice unless they're pretty bad! but my guess is that the rotors could be warped again.

I thought you were a apprentice of auto-mechanics and you worked @ Canadian tire or something? If that is true, the questions you are asking are trivial and interesting.

no longer the case.
career changed.
I enjoyed fixing/modifying cars as a hobby. but my stint at CT showed me that the auto industry is not for me as a career.

I don't think anyone will be able to diagnose your problem. Use what you know, take off the wheel and maybe calipers and inspect for yourself. Could be *possibly* sticky caliper, sticky slider pins, sticky slider bolts. Could be anything, really.

the caliper wouldn't grab, then let go, then grab, then let go if you're applying steady pressure to the brake pedal. it sounds like the rotors are really bad, maybe they were machined too thin and they're warped again

^True enough, and it often occurs with a "clunk" or a sudden "thunk" in the pedal.

However, wtf does "lurchy" really mean anyways..?

^ I was also scratching my head about "lurchy" My definition of lurch, was "to lurch forward"
But if this is badly warped rotors, lift up the front end (assuming it's front WD) take off the wheels and put in drive and watch if the calipers and/or rotors move side to side. If it's really bad you will easily see movement. Or a lurchy motion

spent sometime yesterday and took apart brakes...
nothing was really noticeable until i brought the rotors to get machined..

turns out the fucker who my parents trusted for the brake jobs fucked up royally.
the rotors were way too thin.

ended up get new rotors and brake pads and the pads were worn unevenly...

When I said "lurchy," I meant the car would brake normally, then the car would "lurch" forward; as I let go of the pedal.
The resulting sensation is as if I press the brake pedal, then let go, then press again, then let go.....
