I need to rant that the customer service at this place is a shithole.

I got my rear brakes done yesterday on my Trek 4300 bicycle and asked if they could do my front ones and they said too busy. It only takes 5-10mins to replace them.

So I called in today and this is how the conversation goes:
Me: Do you have time to replace my front brakes today?
Bike Doctor: No, we are too busy. Hangs up.

How the hell is he bike shop still alive today with the shitty customer service? At least before you hang up, tell me when I can come back. Retards.

When I do go back to get the front brakes replaced, I'm not going to pay them another $20 for labour when they could've done it on sat at the same time

This is my standley park ride. I don't have a bike for whistler.

I'm not sure if I want to spend $375 to rent the bike for 3days at whistler. I think I'm better off buying a used bike for around $1200 on craiglist. What do you think?

up to you, if you rent the bikes up at whistler you'll be getting the most high end bikes out there and your rides will feel fantastic.
There are good bikes used for 1200 right now, but it'll take a bit of searching and you might want to get others opinions on them before dropping the bills. It's good investment if you plan to mountain bike after your whistler trip.

thing is, they make most of their money selling bikes to people who are just getting into it

$800 sale on a bike vs $15 for brake pads, doesn't surprise me with their attitude

as for the brodie devo, its not worth $900

does your 4300 use "Insyc Grind" shocks? i've got a 4100 and those shocks are so damn firm and sticky.

Not sure but I like the firm and sticky shocks. I don't like soft shocks. They kick in when I don't want them to.

devo isn't bad, this one is priced well too,
but yea expand your bike search onto other sites. nsmb's biking community is pretty experienced and i' m pretty sure they'll be able to answer all your questions and more.

I didnt have any problems with their people there.

I find UBC area around where I work has tons of bike shops, and usually ppl are friendlier in this neck of the woods.

You're thinking about riding Whistler, buying a bike specifically for it, and you can't even change your own brakes? Man, I hope you don't die.

i'm not pro at biking, but i wouldn't touch whistler unless i knew what i was doing.

there are trails in whistler, unless you guys are referring to hardcore mountain biking tracks where you jump stuff.

reading your prior posts, i knew you were new the biking scene, no biggie but honestly, you are nowhere ready for whistler.

Green runs and some blue runs maybe, but you would be better spending your time on the north shore / SFU instead of dropping money on armor, bike rentals, hotel + gas money.

Shocks don't "kick in". These are bikes, not VTEC.

FYI : A drop off + a "firm" fork = you are going to be eating it.

yep, your trek will be fine for that. Hit up sfu first, a lot of north shore trails are harder than the runs at whistler.

and yes the trails are free, just make sure to watch out for hikers on the trails.
