Are they closing down a lane for bikes on Burrard bridge today?

Is it really happening?

Dunno if it's TODAY but it's definately happening this summer. 1 southbound lane.

It's unfortunate that they went with another band-aid solution to pacify the cylcist community instead of just spending the money and building a dedicated bikeway beside and/or below the bridge.

Why do they need an entire lane to themselves? It's not like they have a swarm of cyclists daily that use that bridge. What's wrong with the sidewalk?

Is it illegal sth? Because if so, legalizing that would solve both parties problems.

fucking gayest homo shit

fuck the cyclist.

was on robson saturday celebrating my gf's bday. robson has two small lanes outside futureshop. THis dumbass fucking cyclist decides to sneak in between everybody and almost knock out my side mirror. So i honked at him for 1sec telling him it was dangerous and shit. fucking guy gave me a finger and attempted to spit on my car but missed. obviously i was hella pissed and yelled at him, so he made a u-turn and came to my driver side. I told him it was dangerous the way he was riding, he mummble some bullshit and said I CAN TAKE CARE OF MYSELF...fucking asshole. If i wasnt in a good mood celebrating my gf's bday in my fucking suite i wouldn't spoke to him in a general attitude, but instead would've rip a new asshole for him to shit on his piece of shitty ass bike. Fucking cyclist thinking they own the street taking up one lane, the fuck is up with that? turning left like a vehicle would do....absolutely speechless. people who roller blades and skateboards should take up one lane as well

hell a person jogging should take up one lane than, no im not joking. Fucking guy pedal to the medal going at a speed of 30km max thinking he can block everyone? a person jogging should do the same, since they arent too far behind at a speed of 20km max per hour. fucking lame ass shit

like cycling and think its dumb.

Putting railings on the curbs to keep riders from falling into traffic would be super easy and effective.

Yes, in BC it is illegal to ride your bike on the sidewalk. Pretty stupid eh?

i can agree with you that the cyclist that you had to deal with was rude, and his behaviour was inappropriate
but in regards to your comment of cyclist making a left turn like a car would...well a cyclist is treated as a vehicle on the road, and they must follow the same rules and regulation that you do in a car, therefore they are SUPPOSE to turn left the same way that a car would.

I don't think its the safety thing, its more of a space thing, but i don't ever see bike traffic jams, on the burrard street bridge, only car traffic jams so ...

non sense, they can also cross the street like how a freaking PEDESTRIAN would do! it will work the same way, cross vertically, than fucking wait...than cross horizontally. Instead causing a chaos for everyone. How fast can a cyclist pedal at the begining? say 10km, that means they are delaying every mofo out there behind him trying to make a left turn. I dont see why that rule wouldnt apply to roller bladers, joggers, and skateboarders since they are all going to a fairly similar slow ass speed slowing down the vehicles

i rather have them running over pedestrians than cars running over their dumbass bodies over at a high speed. Which one is most likely to be fatal? hmm...gee i wonder

Cyclists will never be a problem back in old country, drivers will wrap their tires around their necks if they ever play smart-ass with cars.

The burrard bridge already has decent bike lanes on the sidewalk.

There's even a line seperating where the bikes should ride vs. pedestrian's like the seawall.

Offtopic... but have any of you even seen the bike rally thing they do once a month or so, where like 200 hippie bicyclists ride through downtown during rush hour causing all sorts of traffic?

I was once driving my buddy's Hummer and had like 75 people finger me at once. lol. A couple even had the nerve to come up to my window to tell me off personally. What a bunch of self-righteous assholes.

I was going to McDonald's with some co-workers for lunch. We were talking there and a cyclist was behind was us and speed right betwee us (we have 4 ppl). He almost knock one person to the road(he was riding on the sidewalk). Didn't say sorry but start swearing coz we took the whole sidewalk O_O.

Anyways my co-workers are pretty buff up so they kinda went up the cyclist and push him off his bike. Funny thing is the cyclist apolgize right away and acted and scare and shit.

Don't think of it as a problem, think of it as entertainment. Just dump a bucket of motoroil/grease onto the bike lane and setup a camera to film the chaos. Guaranteed laughs

I agree with you. I strongly oppose cyclists being treated as a vehicle. Hence why I really hate cyclists who take up the whole road thinking they're the shiz. However, most of them ride on the side so I have no problem with that.

another thing to note is, if slow moving viehcles are to keep right, how fast can a bike go? i dont get it, and i thought vancouver's traffic is already pretty fucked up, now they're trying to slow it down more? being green traveling with bike is one thing, but having few hundred cars stop and idle is so helpful to being green? i hope these cyclist would take their pathetic attitude to asia if they ever visit there and try riding in the middle of the road and do left turn like a viehcle. i m totally up for walking in downtown in the front of the bikers and just take our time.
