Guy has M3 stolen from Palms Hotel; car is found with sex lube & vibrating cock ring

I feel bad for the guy but wtf at the sex lube and cock rings, lol....only in Vegas I guess.

My baby, a 2008 Alpine White E92 M3 coupe, was stolen from the valet at the Palms Casino Hotel in Las Vegas at approximately 1:10am on Sunday May 17th, 2009. Here's what I've been going through for the past couple days (times are approximate).

Sunday May 17, 2009
1:00am - Arrived at the Palms Hotel (where I am staying) with a friend and left my car with the valet.
1:10am - A valet saw my M3 emerge from the valet parking lot, clip the curb, and proceed the wrong way away from the hotel. He dismisses it as guests have been known to do that.
2:30am - After hanging out at the Playboy Club and Moon Nightclub, my friend and I came out of the hotel and presented my ticket to the valet.
3:15am - After a LONG wait, I am pulled to the side and told that my car is missing.
3:30am - After talking with Palms casino security, I call the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police and file a report.
3:50am - I call BMW Connected Drive and give them the police report number to initiate tracking of my car.
4:30am - Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police arrive and I answer questions. While we are talking I am informed that BMW has gotten "hits" on the car's location and was working with the police.
5:00am - I go to my room but cannot sleep (ahhh!)
6:45am - I get a call from the police saying that they have found my car!
7:20am - I arrive at the scene in a Limo provided by the Palms Hotel. The car is parked in a dirt lot near the Stratosphere Hotel. According to the police, the car was spotted at a strip club and officers attempted to stop the driver. The driver reversed and rammed a police cruiser and drove away. There was a chase but the Crown Vic was smoked by my M3 and it got away. My car was found abandoned in the dirt lot with my key and the guy got away. After I got the story, I went through the car with a forensics expert (CSI) and found that my trunk had been cleaned out. They got my Nikon D80 DSLR, about $500 worth of clothing, some other small things, and the iDrive controller knob (why??). They left behind some water bottles (DNA b*tches), a case of sex lube (around 20 2.5oz bottles) and vibrating cock rings, no joke. The forensics agent wasn't surprised, apparently these items have been popping up at crime scenes around the area. Only in vegas..

So, the damage...
They worked the car pretty good. I can tell they had some fun with it. The front and rear tires are bubbled on the side, the rims are freshly curbed, the rear bumper is dented and hanging off the car from the impact with the police car, the trunklid is dented, and as of yet I have no idea what the internal damage may be.

I would like to thank BMW Connected Drive and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police for quickly and efficiently finding my car. All the officers were great and sympathetic. They found a lot of forensic evidence and have a good description of the guy/s and I am hopeful that they will catch him/them.

What do you think the responsibility of the Palms is?
As of now, I am waiting at the Palms Hotel to speak with their risk management people before I fly back to LA. They have given me an extra night stay, $100 in food & beverage, and transportation around Vegas. The car is currently at the local dealership getting an estimate of repairs.

I am hoping for four things:
1. Return to me a car in PERFECT condition with a clear title, a brand new one if it must.
2. Provide transportation, including rental car, air transport to LA, and to and from the airport.
3. Replace personal belongings stolen from the car, including my Nikon D80 DSLR camera, $500 worth of clothing, and about $100 in misc small goods.
4. Release photo of guy from security cameras and offer reward for information leading to his capture.

I hope the Palms Hotel will step up and make things right.

UPDATE May 19, 2009 11:09 AM #96

Hello Everyone! Sorry for the slow response, I flew back to LA last night and I haven't been able to get on to the internet until now.

So here's what has happened since my original post.

Monday afternoon, about an hour after I posted here I got a call from risk management and they have verbally agreed to the following:
1. Repair All Damage to the Car - The car was sent to a dealership who has started a complete inspection. So far the tires were deemed unsafe to drive and they will replace the rims. We are waiting for them to finish up the inspection of the engine and internals.
2. Provide Transportation - They are covering my flight to LA as well as a rental car for a car of comparable value (hehe). I got in late last night and the closest car I could get was a Volvo C70 convertible.
3. Cover Everything Stolen From My Car - They will cover everything that was taken, including the Nikon D80 camera and my clothing. I estimate the value of everything is about $2000.

The only sticking point I have so far with them is any potential losses I can incur as a result of a possible theft recovery title and potential engine damage. We will know if the engine was overreved and if there was any damage when the inspection is completed. I'm only speculating at this point, but all 4 tires had a bubbling/swelling on the sides. You can see a photo of it on the original post. I don't know exactly what kind of driving would cause that, but it seems like evidence of crazy driving to me.

So far I would like to say that I think the management has been responding well to the situation. Everyone has been very nice to me and they have not been difficult to work with at all. I'm just trying to be made whole again and so far they are stepping up. The only thing left to be decided is whether they are going to replace my car or not. I'm trying but that will be up to the Palms management to decide.

I will update everyone as soon I have more news.

UPDATE #2

I called the BMW dealership where my car was inspected and was told the following:

1. The computer readout did not return any evidence of over-rev.

2. The suspension was checked while performing an alignment and was deemed to be ok. I thought this was wierd considering they drove the car hard enough to bend the rims, but he said "M's can handle it."

3. All 4 rims are bent and all 4 tires need to be replaced.

The estimate to repair totals $7778.71.

The matter has now been turned over to the Palm's insurance company and I am awaiting contact from the adjustor. I've made a clear request for what will make me happy and end this situation. I'm in for a fight, but this shouldn't happen to anybody and I hope I will show that if it does happen to you, everything will be alright.

but by using the car to ram the police car, wouldn't that be considered assault on a police officer? would that be enough to make this more than a stolen vehicle recovery?

(sorry i've watched too much CSI...)

I'm not sure if anything will get reimbursed, but if Palms does that would be some customer service there.

Ouch... I'd hate to have my stuff violated like that.

+1....or I'd at least want 5-10k in compensation for the hit you're going to take when you sell, due to the $8000 claim.
