If the 335d had xdrive, I'd get it in a heartbeat. Yes the acceleration NUMBERS are slower but the instantaneous torque on tap is amazing. It feels FASTER than a 335i, even though the numbers don't say so. 9L/100Km for city driving can't be beat, especially for a car with 425 lb.ft of torque.:D

ilvtofu 06-08-2009 04:34 PM

Even with a shitload more torque than the 335i it's still slower,
Weighs 200lbs more
It only saves you about 3L/100km which, if you drive around 15,000km a year will save you around $500 which is pretty insignificant in this price range, ($50,000+)
but personally for the fun tradeoff I don't think it's worth it,

+ in canada I think it only comes as the sedan,

but still I think you should get the 328 :D

I got 8% off my E92 335i (leased). You can get 8% without much begging, 10% is the max.

uh only $800 difference

the 335d is faster in real world driving. nothing like 425 torque

I wonder what will happen when the 335d is chipped?

ilvtofu 06-08-2009 08:58 PM

wheelspin like you've never seen before,

Ferra 06-09-2009 08:10 PM

went for a test drive today, (they only have a 330xi for test drive)
but I'd have to say I was quite disappointed :(...the car's performance was nothing like what I was expecting

The car felt only marginally faster than the 06 330i I was driving...and there is a big difference compared to a 02 M3 manual (contrary to what I've been hearing)

I test drove the heavier xi and we had 3 people in the car, not sure how much of a difference that made. I compared the 330i and the 335xi on the same stretch (from a 60km/h on ramp going up to 180km/h)

Harvey Specter 06-09-2009 08:36 PM

The gas milage between the two isn't much but you would have to put higher octane in the 335i compared to the 328i. Not too much of a diff tho.

Your last BMW was a PITA with a minor nuisance coming up every few months and you want to get another one?

q0192837465 06-10-2009 02:34 PM

328i w/ a stick shift is the way to go if fuel economy is on ur mind. Do a quad exhaust conversion & u got urself a mean car.

don't they both require 91?

ilvtofu 06-10-2009 03:51 PM

I guess 94 on the 335?

328i min. requirement is 91 but most people I've read on the e90post put in 89 without any issues. For the 335i it's recommended you put 91 and higher. I put 91, nothing higher.

ilvtofu 06-10-2009 10:39 PM

^lol nice, not even 92? damn we have to start fueling with 92 in our X3 si... but I do feel a difference even from chevron 92 to shell 91...

Ferra 06-14-2009 09:48 PM

lol...there is nothing higher than 91 in Toronto (except a very few station)

Ended up ordering a fully loaded 335i, MSRP $61,900 with $7200 discount (including the free auto from BMW)
Good/fair/bad deal?

Harvey Specter 06-14-2009 10:15 PM

Coupe or Sedan? Lease?

wow, great deal!

to OP, if you can afford it, 335i without a doubt.

328i, while fast enough for most of people, is just slow if you test drove both back to back.

I love my 335i and never regret it.. if you just want to look "cool", E92 328i is probably all you need.. if you can afford it and want to enjoy a real beast, 335i without a doubt.

Congratulations with your new car!:D Hope you have fun! Check out E90post.com !

M-Sport $3900
Exec $2200
Navi $2000
Audiophile Pkg $2000
Auto/pedal shift $1700
Metallic paint $800
Lumbar Support $400

The ONLY option I really wanted was the M-sport, but EVERY SINGLE ONE of their 335i with M-sport are pretty much fully loaded...

The M-sport pkg & 18" wheels make the car stand out a lot more...i hate the fact that a plain 335i being $15000 more expensive looks almost identical to a 323i. (except for a few chrome trims & exhaust...)

Harvey Specter 06-15-2009 07:42 PM

Very nice deal because your car is stacked with options. And I agree, the M-sport package is a must and well worth the extra money. It's actually cheaper to get the package compared ot buying the package seperate. I wish the E92's had it when I got my car but oh well. By the way, does the audiophile package include the usb input?

I actually like the fact that it's hard to differentiate the car from lesser models to the untrained eye. The stealth factor...;)
