335i or 328i? Will be returning my lease vehicle early and need to decide on which one to get soon. I don't drive aggressively much at all, so i am thinking of going back to a 328i and save myself $200 a month compared to the 335. Other than the engine and leather seat, what else is different on the 335? Would the differences justify the $9000 premium in the price tag? I am also driving a 330i now, is going back to a 328 a big downgrade? I found the engine on the 330i is quite sufficient for what I need. (except the car is somewhat of a PITA with minor nuisance coming up every few months) Anyone own either car and have comments to share? Is the 335 turbo gonna be expensive to maintain and keep if I plan to keep the car for the long term? |
So are you leasing or buying your next car?? Also, I'm assuming you're talking about 328i and 335i sedan right? Not coupe? I would say, if you don't drive aggressively, the 328i will give you 230HP, which is more than enough. Stick with the 328i man :thumbsup: |
test drive both and then make your decision, if 328i is enough for you then save yourself some money.....but most people will opt for the 335 as it's power is quite addictive |

Go talk to your salesperson who leased you your car and ask them if you can take out a new 328 for a few hours to see how it compares to your 335. That's really the only way to know if you're going to be happy. |

Is your 330i a E90? or E46? If your looking for a 328i why not stick with the 330i assuming its the E90? Since your not looking for the power of a 335i the 330i should make you happy since its basically a 335i with slight difference in brakes/tires/engine. The 330i also got a smooth NA engine that you won't get in a 335i either. The 330i is noticeably better than the 328i even though the power difference is only 30hp. I heard the transmission is better than those in 323i/325i/328i. Keep in mind that your 330i is a 1 year limit run in north america as well if that means anything to you. If you really insist on getting 328i or 335i I'd say get the 335i. A lot is different not just the engine and the leather. At least the brakes/tires/suspension/transmission is different but I am sure there is more. Have you checked out E90post? Price wise, when I bought my 335i the monthly payment was only around $150 more than a 328i so it was no brainer to me. Obviously that price will change depending on what options you opt for. If you asking if the 335i is $9000 better than the 328i, I'd say yes and no, depending on what kind of driver you are and what you look for in a car. Good luck on your decision. |

I test drove the E92 328i with sport package when I leased my E92 335i and the only difference really was the engine/power delivery and the brakes. Overall the 328i was quick but the 335i is in whole different league. A few things to remember, the 335i's do have the fuel pump issues and transmission has been known to be a bit sluggish, not sure if they have the same tranny issue with the 328i's. Otherwise the car is basically the same exterior and interior wise with a few different cosmetic differences. By the way, I prefer leatherette over real leather. Much more durable and stiffer and in the long run it still looks new compared to leather seats which tend to wear down. |

If you're planning to lease, then 335i for sure! However, if you're going to purchase it or finance it then I'm guessing 328i would be a better choice. I'm assuming you're probably going to keep it long-term if you're purchasing, so 328i would definitely give you less issues, like reliability for the Turbos, wastegate rattles and HPFP issue, which is basically a hit and a miss. I've seen people replace two HPFP in a month(and counting) while others, like dkvby are still on their original HPFP. Interior/Exterior are basically identical(like what Jah said) difference is probably the exhaust-pipes, single vs dual. |

HPFP failure mostly caused by the ethanol in fuel damaging the seal, so just use chervon/petro u most likely wont hv a problem. And they hv the new hardware for the wastegate, so it doesnt rattle anymore i think. also, is DCT avaliable in canada yet? as dark0821 said, chip it and it will smoking fast lol |

my tl was 475 a month taxes in. Some really really cheap deals out there. But this was last year, im sure the deprecation on leases are more. |

i say 328i - nothing better than the good old fashioned inline 6. the best engine ever mass produced. I'm looking at a new 3 myself, the twin turbos are very appealing and evil at the same time, knowing I can bump the horses to 350 with an easy tune. But i think I will stick to the true original inline 6. |
