| Ebisu Park! Quote: http://vancouver.ca/parks/news/2009/090522_ebisu.htm NEWS RELEASE:
Marpole’s Ebisu Park official opening May 30
May 22, 2009 (No. 26) - The public is invited to the official opening celebration of Ebisu Park located in the historic Marpole neighbourhood. 11am to 12pm
Saturday, May 30, 2009
Ebisu Park
(72nd Avenue at Osler Street, just west of Oak Street)
The event will include a ribbon cutting ceremony, cake, refreshments, entertainment and activities for children.
This small 0.4 hectare (just under an acre) park was created to provide the Marpole neighbourhood with much-needed green space. The park features a playground and climbing rock, a quiet garden area with seating, timber entrance arbours, a dry stream bed of rocks and flowing Mexican feather grass that empties into an ornamental garden. The park is popular with both families and those seeking a tranquil spot to read or reflect.
The name Ebisu was approved by the Park Board last fall following a new naming process led by a citizen-based Park Naming Committee. Over 50 name submissions were received from the public for this park. Ebisu is the Japanese god of fishermen, of the working man, protector of young children and of good luck. The name recognizes the vibrant Japanese fishing community that was in this area in the early 1900s

Haha woot! They named a Public PARK the same as our restaurant! Not earth-shattering news but I thought it was pretty interesting..

haha, now ur gonna have at least 1 confused person show up at the park, then come back on here on revscene and complain that no hostess ever came to sit them on the grass, followed by poor service because no one was even at the park to ask if they wanted to order anything besides not even giving them menus!
hahahahaha

Then I thought you donated a buckload of coin to get the park named after your restaurants.
Free publicity ftw! Love your cheap pitchers Mon-Thu. |
