Hi. I have a question regarding sata hdd connection. I'm currently running 4 SATA drives on a Asus A8N SLI Premium motherboard using the red ports. I'm wondering if I can hook up a fifth SATA drive using the black ports without using raid. Is that possible?
correction needed. I'm using the 4 black sata ports not the red ones. Would that make a difference if I wanted to add a fifth hdd without raid using the red ports?
It doesn't matter if it's onboard RAID or a dedicated RAID controller, it just means each port is CAPABLE of RAID, it doesn't mean that each port MUST BE USED in a RAID configuration.

Okay, thanks. I'll give it another try. When I tried the first time it didn't work out.
