I doubt the majority of voters think that RHD vehicles should be permitted, or care and that's who is important. The only people who really give a fuck is our tiny population of enthusiasts.

Come on man.
If the issue is so small, why ban them? And what's your basis for the advocacy of such a stupid, nanny society fucking move. If you're a government that takes the Caveat Emptor stance on free business, why cut it at RHD? "Safety" is the basis of the ban, yet Pickup Trucks could be seen as less safe due to weight and handling, but they're big sellers for the big 3. Hmmmm. At the bottom of things it's really the driver that has the potential to be dangerous because all cars are dangerous at a base level by being multi thousand pound pieces of steel capable of travelling at speed.

The only real motivated party here is retailers of north american vehicles. The safety "issue" is a crock of shit. Moving three feet over in the car doesn't magically make it less safe. If it wasn't cheap and easy to import these cars, the tools would just go back to killing themselves in riced out 240s and civics.

It's quite obviously a smear since they haven't noted the many upsides to RHD vehicles, ie. Curbside exit of your car, cyclist** and pedestrian visibility (especially on right turns) and so on, I mean it's a car, and there are no fewer windows. Regarding the left turn "issue", just hang back like your supposed to, not like the foot in difference of driving position is going to magically make that cube van in front of you invisible.
**(I swear to god I'm gonna doorfuck the next cyclist that tries to speed through stopped traffic going 50km and has a hipster bitchfest when you nearly nail his ass) (( another plus of rhd))

If our (North America) automotive industries had done a better job for past 100 years (since 1908) they would not go bankrupt and we the citizens would not turn our back towards them and go for Japanese made ones.
| Riiiiiight....... Like the guy who goes out and gets a $8k GTS-4 was also considering a new Dodge Caravan.....
The argument that new car dealers give two shits about the people who buy 15 year old used imports is so thin you'd barely be able to wipe with it.

The funny thing is that to the Japanese, all these old cars are trash.
We're basically buying their junk by the boatload...

The customs you pay is through the roof as are all the fees and taxes.
~2k for the car
~1k shipping
~2k customs fees/taxes
I looked it up a while back, but I know Canada's cut is pretty substantial. Quote:

These older cars are trash to them because they cost more to insure and put on the road every year then they are worth. They are taxed heavily on the age of the car to promote new sales and get older more "polluting less efficient cars" off the road.
