so did they upgrade the battery too? Or will all this come at a cost of a shorter battery life?

So who is actually going to upgrade from their current 3G iphone?

It seems kinda weird buying the exact same looking phone, with a few extra internal bells and whistles over the old one.

Those are "expected" improvements. I really hoped they were going to give us some surprises.

Where did you read about faster wifi? I have only read the report on GSMArena.com, but they don't mention anything about faster wifi. The upgrades they list are:

-faster processor (apps loading 3-5 times faster)
-16GB/32GB models available
-3MP AF camera with Macro
-30fps VGA video recording
-voice controls
-Compass (uses its own app as well as integrated in Google Maps for proper map orientation)
-Accessibility options for spoken text
-Nike+ support
-Hardware encryption, Find My iPhone service, remote data wipe
-20% battery life improvement

not even worth it.. none of the new features are worth the cost of upgrading from a 3G imo..

ya, for the average user, theres no point in upgrading from the current 3g iphone. ive been using a 2g iphone for quite some time now and my main problem with it was the lag. i am definitely going to get myself the new 3G-S.

Faster processor means shit if you can't multi-task with multiple apps..

also.. do u really need 32GB worth of space for an average 15-20minute daily commute for most people?

what they should do is increase the memory size and allow better multi-tasking abilities... it sucks when it lags like crazy when ur running the GPS and listening to music at the same time..

7.2mbps means nothing if we can't achieve anywhere closed to that in real world situations.

u'll be lucky if u can hit 1mbps with rogers/fido.

Quite sure there wont be any surprises. Specs and imporvements have already been posted on the apple website, as well as a whole demo video of the 3gs.
