it says in the article that the attack occured inside the victim's apartment, so i would assume the pan was from the victim's own kitchen.

OK for those who apparently can't comprehend, Cole's notes:
The VICTIM drove the car for sale to the ATTACKER's place, to show it. It doesn't explain where the the pan (and maybe knife) came from. After the attack, the ATTACKER drove the VICTIM to a clinic in the VICTIM's car, dropped him off and TOOK the car. 5 hours later the ATTACKER was apprehended at his home.

Who goes takes a car to someones apartment and then goes inside? The cars outside I would have thought any conversations took place out there. Unless you plan on killing the seller you have 0% chance of getting away with taking the car and even then you're still probably going to get caught.
