Fifth Gear: Audi R8 V10
 

Fifth Gear has kicked off its 16th season with the 522hp Audi R8 V10. According to Audi, this model goes from 0-62mph in only 3.9 seconds (60-124mph in 8.1 seconds) and has a top speed of 196mph

That blue colour doesn't work for me. This car doesn't work for me...
Engine noise isn't really that impressive,
at 2:20 the car just looks so ugly, I'm probably the only person on RS who doesn't like the styling of this car though
He's so right about the price, not worth the upgrade, and still not exactly a hardcore performance model, ie. GT3 RS

I think the blue looks amazing on the R8.

It's like a super hot girl with Breast Implants but I prefer her without Breast implants.

Are you going strictly from the video for the sound and the looks though? R8's in real life both sound and look great.

And it's not really intended to be a hard core track car, more of a daily driver + sports car like a 911 Turbo or NSX.

do R8's sell good like is there a wait list or are they easy to get

obviously I've seen many R8s in person, although not in that blue colour, Judging the sound from that video though, just sounds like a typical sports car,

The point on being a hardcore sports car is just that the 4.2 is already very fast, but this one isn't much faster, so I don't see the point. Sorta like carrera and C2S jump, but thats a much lower price range, so i can see those selling.

actually I've heard the 4.2 exhaust note in person and I don't like it either, compare that one to what Aston Martin makes with their 4.2 or now 4.7, even though it's not as powerful, still the sound is pretty important.

The A5/S5's have a huge waiting list so I can imagine the R8 having a wait list.

yeah the guy told me about a year on an A5, and then I quickly ran away... but it's such a sexy car, oh well, it's too expensive and slow.

i heard the R8's exaust revving high during our recent euro meet. it was the lease impressive exaust I heard in a very long time. sounded like a matrix.

hoping the v10 sounds nicer.

funny thing is that the F430 was besided it and that car was tearing the Audi in a new hole in exaust notes and the audi owner was totally doped out. haha.

^ yay someone finally agrees with me, the V10 in the video doesn't sound anything like a gallardo either, so I don't know what to expect.

R8 just doesn't sound like a supercar, even the 911 carrera S has a nicer exhaust note and that's pretty entry level, all other sports cars >150k available in Canada have nicer sounding exhausts than the R8, no doubt about it.

well clarkson did say that is is supercar that is easy to live with, its very quiet, very unassuming, if one didn't know cars he would think its just some audi. but it performs very well.

The R8 is a beautiful car, but it doesn't have that aggressive growl like a Ferrari or a Lamborghini. Porsches all have nice exhaust notes :thumbsup:

Hmm but if you look at the oddly proportioned front end + sideblade + wheels, you can see the car is all business, so Clarkson might be wrong, It doesn't look like "just any other audi" it's clearly a pure bred sports car, mid engine, quattro, R-tronic, low wide stance etc.

Two years for the S5, it's no wonder we don't see too many A or S5's on the road...yet. Off topic a bit but I just spotted a black on black R8 with wheels and a crazy exhaust on Granville St heading towards Richmond. My god, the car was pure sex.

Smexiest R8 I've spotted was the full matte black R8 around UBC with the yellow calipers.

On another note, my neighbor drives a black S5. seeexxxxxxxxxxy LEDs

I just saw that matte black R8 today, apparantly that guys sister goes to my school and his Gf drove her to school in the R8!
