Car got broken into

I went for a walk at Iona beach, park on the side of the road where the other cars are. I was being either stupid or just ignorant, put my gf's purse on the floor in the back behind passenger's seat. I thought I hid it enough, but I guess not. My back windows are all tinted by the way.

Got back an hour later with the back side window broken and her purse gone. Everything she had, license, credit cards, gift cards, cash, cell phone, and her apartment & car keys all gone. I then remembered that I put my radar detector right besides her purse, and that is gone as well.

I'm hoping that if anyone managed to find a Mickey Mouse pink purse/small bag (with yellow lining inside the bag) near Iona beach anytime after this past weekend to please contact me. I'm more interested with her personal stuff (ID, keys, cell phone, Disneyland souvenirs passes) as I know we won't see the cash or the now useless credit cards.

Also, if anyone find a great deal on Valentine One radar detector, please let me know as it might be the one that they took. There are some scratches on the rear sensor (near the power knob), and the suction cups don't have the the metal connector that allows you to take off both at the same time.

Thanks for reading folks.

That sucks...no car alarm? I know it doesn't do much but at least it causes a lot of attention if there's ppl around.

Did you change the lock at your gf's apartment yet?

DL + keys = the apartment being broken into and her car stolen.

And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

I do have car alarm, a paging one too. But I guess we walked too far from the car, and the signal didn't get to me.

Yes, that's the first thing we did. Went back to her place, called a locksmith, and changed her lock. I'm going to give her one of those steering wheel lock that I don't use, so hopefully the car will be a bit safer.

was it just the rear window that got broken into? In that case, it seems like the theft might have saw you put her purse in the back seats or something like that, unless you did that while you were still in the car. But even though in that scenario, he might have saw you placing her purse in the rear seat through the front windows where it's not tinted.

call valentine one and tell them it was stolen. give them the serial number if you still have it. if it ever needs work and whoever has it sends it in, they will confiscate it for you.

if there are other cars there then the thief mustve been in one of those other cars. Do you remember any details on those other cars?

How stupid do you have to be to leave your gf's purse and all her belongings in your car at a place like Iona Beach? Iona Beach is a relatively secluded area so you should have known better.

I'm sure he knows that now, yet you're not exactly helping him get the stuff back.

Sucks what happened, yet I'm sure lots of us have done the same. Gone to the beach and locked our valuables in our cars.

Yeah he must feel like shit but I'm just saying. If you leave anything in your car you have to make sure that it's not something that you'd miss if your car gets broken into.

There's certain places that you can leave stuff in the car and not worry as much (i.e. Robson St) but relatively secluded places like beaches are a definite nono

Except everybodys too pussy to do anything, and even if they weren't they would probably get charged for injuring the criminal.

Sorry to hear that, doesn't matter if you have an alarm (that's more for protecting the car itself)...

Just try not to leave your car out of place too long and think about a 2-way from soundsgood or something, OD can hook you up good.

+1, the thief had to have seen you move the purse, either through front windows, windshield or your gf asking you to put it in the back seat/you telling her you did so in a loud enough volume to be overheard.

I'm always paranoid abt my car being broken into so I always put valuable shit (bags, purses, paddles, etc) in my trunk, and disable the trunk lock from inside the car, so it can only be opened with the key. Mind you its not 100% thiefproof, but its WAYY better than storing it in the interior, guarded by only fragile, breakable glass.
